Statewide Design and Engineering Services provides technical assistance to the Department and other state and federal agencies and governments. Information Services supports the Department through the development and maintenance of information systems.

What you will be doing:
This position serves as a technical specialist with advanced proficiency in systems analysis involved with complex software systems, databases and user applications of high complexity. The incumbent is expected to take on a technical leadership role in engineering, operating and maintaining custom software and interfaces.
Who we are looking for:
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:
Systems analysis and design
Data modeling and management
Six years of computer programming experience, of which, at least two years were at the project leader or systems design level. This is equivalent to an Analyst/Programmer 4 with the State of Alaska.
Two years of experience must have been in a business application, scientific application, microcomputer or computer information management support specialty. The specialized experience may be gained concurrently.
A bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science (CS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related degree with (18) semester/(24) quarter hours of CS or CIS may substitute for one year of the required experience. An associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems may substitute for nine months of the required experience in a specialty area. There is no substitute for the systems analysis and design or project leadership experience.
Individual positions at each level in this class series may require expertise in a particular area of programming or analysis. Recruitment and selection will be on the basis of these requirements.
For some positions in these job classes a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
