BASIC FUNCTION:

The M&A Diligence & Implementation Analyst/Manager in the Strategic Planning & Transactions (SP&T) group is a cross-functional, highly visible role managing and providing guidance through the lifecycle of the M&A process including: diligence and implementation project management, management presentation preparation, virtual data room preparation and management, site visit and expert session planning, and other activities to support the overall transaction. The individual will support varied transaction sizes and structures such as acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.

The successful candidate will be an individual contributor managing the diligence and integration processes for cross-functional teams. The individual will support M&A transaction teams ensuring that diligence and integration expectations are met and develop new, creative, and insightful content that management teams will rely on to conduct strategic transactions impacting the direction of the entire company.

The position is located in downtown Houston at the LyondellBasell Tower, just steps from the Park Shops and Minute Maid Park. The position offers a competitive base salary, annual bonus, excellent 401K match, generous benefits package, pension plan and employee discounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support transactions across all businesses and geographies on an as-needed basis

  • Possess an understanding of the company and multiple functions/departments

  • Clearly articulate and adhere to documented processes

  • Lead diligence efforts including working with functional teams, external support consultants, bankers and interacting with counterparties on multiple transactions

  • Analyze synergies and costs to achieve through diligence, challenging as necessary

  • Work cooperatively with the Strategic Projects and Analysis group to ensure transaction alignment

  • Ensure alignment with transaction team objectives and develop strategies for responding to requests for information and for requesting diligence information

  • Support planning activities for integration of acquisitions and for separation of divestitures

  • Edit existing process documentation and templates to support the M&A process and develop new ones to fit unique situations

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or related field of study, required
  • MBA / CFA or CPA preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience, with 2+ years in planning, evaluation, business and manufacturing

  • Experience in the petrochemical, project management, energy, banking or industrial fields preferred

  • Experience in investment banking or consulting services preferred.

Critical Skills:

  • Highly proficient in PC skills, including Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint

  • Fast thinker, quick learner, and team player are "must have" attributes

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills consistent with a client group including Senior Managers & Executives

  • Strategic thinker, also able to perform tactical duties

  • Extraordinary focus on details, accuracy, and quality

  • Ability to manage highly confidential material

  • Self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision and balance multiple projects

  • Possess an understanding of the chemical industry and the drivers of its performance preferred
