Role Description:

The Strategic Advisory group consists of one of the most experienced investment banking teams in the industry, and has been involved in some of the largest, most complex transactions of the past twenty years. Our global team focuses on a diverse set of industries, including technology, media & telecommunications; energy; financial institutions & financial technology; power & utilities; real estate; industrials; and healthcare.

Our Private Capital Markets team is part of the Capital Markets Advisory team within the Strategic Advisory group. Our Private Capital Markets team originates, advises upon, structures, negotiates and executes private capital transactions across sectors. The team manages relationships with a broad range of investors including venture capital funds, growth equity funds, private equity funds, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and public-style funds. Types of private capital transactions include:

  • Growth or developmental equity or equity-linked financings

  • Pre-IPO or IPO-linked capital raises

  • Acquisition related equity or debt financings

  • Negotiated PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) offerings

  • Minority / structured equity raises

  • Joint ventures with third party capital / capital formation

  • Equity recapitalizations and debt refinancings

  • Other bespoke or creative private financing solutions

Responsibilities:

Analysts in Private Capital Markets participate in the origination and execution of all deal activity. Analyst work will include:

  • Constructing and managing internal deal and investor-related databases

  • Drafting of client presentations

  • Preparation of market updates

  • Conducting financial and other business related research

  • Coordinating and helping manage complex and often time-sensitive capital raise processes

  • Active involvement in client facing situations

  • Ongoing investor relationship development and management

  • Assistance in the execution of transactions

  • Assistance in deal structuring and term sheet negotiations

  • Participation in talent development efforts, including recruiting

Qualifications:

PJT Partners seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have excellent academic, leadership and extracurricular records. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • 12 years of experience in investment banking (M&A, coverage, or capital markets); potential to consider a candidate with experience in equity sales who wants to move into investment banking; experience as a member of a leading equity capital markets or private capital markets group with experience with private capital transactions is highly preferred

  • Outstanding qualitative, technical and analytical skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Aptitude to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Robust organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure
