JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • This position plays a critical role in Entergy's regulatory compliance program. The position assists the Chief Compliance Officer in executing the overall strategic direction and corporate oversight of compliance with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements, including Power Sales, Transmission, Interlocking Directorates, Securities and Assumption of Liabilities (Section 204), Market Rules, and General Reporting Requirements, for Entergy Corporation and all of its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively referred to as Entergy). In addition, this position promotes employee compliance with applicable laws and corporate policies. The successful candidate will gain valuable exposure to diverse Entergy functions through interactions with key personnel at all levels of the enterprise. This position reports to and works closely with Entergy's Chief Compliance Officer, providing leadership and guidance on project assignments and analysis for the Regulatory Compliance functional area.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing general oversight of business unit compliance activities, including review of selected risks, mitigating controls and tests, and reports.

  • Providing compliance industry expertise and applying best practices to project work based on experience.

  • Interacting with leadership throughout the organization to understand and address compliance issues.

  • Staying abreast of FERC regulations that may impact Entergy policies, practices, and decision making.

  • Improving the FERC Compliance Program and its processes.

  • Conducting analysis and regulatory support to achieve consistent approaches and controls for FERC requirements.

  • Assisting with implementation and use of Entergy's Governance Risk & Compliance tool.

  • Developing effective written communications on various FERC Compliance topics including presentations, compliance manual policies and procedures, and training materials.

  • Leading the development and implementation of FERC Compliance training coursescomputer-based and classroom.

  • Making presentations to business units, sometimes in other geographic locations, on compliance topics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering/technical field, Juris Doctorate law degree, or equivalent work experience.

  • Desired: Master's Degree.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Analyst Sr.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in regulatory or compliance programs.
  • Analyst Sr. Lead
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in regulatory or compliance programs.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Knowledge of applicable FERC Regulatory Requirements

  • Knowledge of electric utility operations

  • Functional KnowledgeRequires depth or breadth of expertise in facilitating compliance with rules, regulations, or policies. Based on the diverse responsibilities of the position, relevant work experiences may include: creation of employee training content; internal audit; external audit or consulting; communications and marketing; risk analysis and internal control evaluation; legal and regulatory compliance; and creation of corporate codes of ethics and employee policies.

  • RSO/ITO experience desired

  • Marketing/trading compliance experience desired

  • Business ExpertiseAbility to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve compliance products, processes, or services

  • Familiarity with internal controls and risk assessment techniques preferred; understanding of processes and flowcharting

  • Leadership skills

May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity

This includes development and execution of market strategies to optimize energy committed to an ISO market, minimization of market risk for Entergy stakeholders, as well as frequent communication with generating plant personnel, fossil fuel supply group, and real time system dispatchers for implementation and modification of day ahead offers and outage coordination. In addition, this position serves a lead role in strategy development, organizational training, and overall process improvement related to ISO market operations. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES * Construction and submission of generation offers to ISO MARKET for energy and ancillary services in the day ahead market and submission of demand bids to ISO MARKET to meet native load requirements for the respective Entergy Opcos * Development and execution of energy marketing strategies in the day ahead markets, including optimization of energy committed to ISO MARKET and sales analysis of ARR/FTRs. Review of data and market results to evaluate strategy performance and actively use the data and analysis to lead in the creation, improvement, and execution of market strategies and processes * Frequent and concise communication with generating plant personnel, fossil fuel supply group, and real time system dispatchers to optimize the energy market performance of the generating units within the Entergy Opcos and to ensure generation unit commitment and purchase power agreement generation are accurate for the day ahead market and align with the real time market strategy in order to control the overall cost of energy while ensuring system reliability * Monitor and utilize various IT systems and software to lead effort in evaluating and optimizing day ahead commitment of power plants to meet forecast demand under evolving conditions with generation units, fuel supply and pricing, weather and demand impacts, and contractual purchase/sale obligations * Participate in relevant industry meetings, working groups, and lead effort in responding to Opco specific requests * Responsible for maintaining a weekly rotation schedule with an on-call responsibility requiring 24 hour availability to address, answer, implement, and communicate with generation power plants ongoing plant conditions and availability, as well as implement and modify generation planned outages in coordination with generating plant personnel, LBA, fossil fuel supply group, transmission, ISO personnel, and real time system dispatchers MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Minimum education required of the position: BS/BA in a technical field such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent work experience.
