About The Job

This job is a member of the Sales and Distribution Strategy team within the Sales Division. This position will be responsible for developing strategies, maintaining relationships, and negotiating contracts with the following: Global Distribution Systems (GDS), online booking tools (OBT), American's New Distribution Capability connections (NDC), and the distribution components of Travel Management Companies (TMC) and large corporations.

Specifically, you'll do the following:

  • Owns and strengthens key relationships with major GDS partners (account management)

  • Manages all aspects of GDS/NDC budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting processes

  • Assists with economic modeling of strategies and contracts to support decision making during GDS and NDC negotiations

  • Develops understanding of cost driving processes and products to guide and influence decision making

  • Identifies, analyzes, and quantifies strategic opportunities for Distribution Strategy, either financially, commercially or operationally

  • Collaborates closely with counterparts in the wider Global Sales organization, as well as Finance, Revenue Management, Digital Channels, AAdvantage and other AA departments to identify opportunities and risks related to product distribution and business plans

  • Develops Distribution related communication plans by working with Sales Support, B2B Marketing and Corporate Communications

  • Contributes to larger corporate initiatives on an on-going and ad-hoc basis

  • Presents analysis and recommendations clearly and concisely to all levels of leadership as well as external customers

  • Develops and leads internal training related to Distribution initiatives

  • Assists in shaping the strategy of the Distribution Strategy team and broader Global Sales organization


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Proven analytical expertise and ability to effectively structure and communicate financial data for business consideration and decision making

  • Strong business acumen, including analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to communicate complex topics in a simple way

  • Ability to be a strategic thinker

  • Ability to create structure and drive progress in an ambiguous environment

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

  • Knowledge of data analysis tools Tableau, SQL, Cognos
