Reporting in a line capacity to the PACS Manager, the incumbent is responsible for assisting with the operational functions of the picture archiving communication system (PACS) within the department of Radiology. Helps to oversee, as assigned, the existing digital imaging system (PACS) and participates in new PACS and new digital imaging initiatives for Radiology.

Interacts with physicians, and staff in a professional, courteous manner. This position requires a strong understanding of Radiology workflow, Radiology information systems, and preferable experience with Radiology PACS systems. Strong verbal communications, ability to problem solve and use independent judgment.

Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Office automation systems (i.e., Windows 95/98/2000, NT, XP) required.

Familiarity with specific radiology applications such as IDX Rad, Internet. Familiarity with PACS systems, Radiology modalities and terminology is a plus.

Position Summary:
Operational application owner for 1 or more information systems used within Radiology by the Radiologists and by technologists. Works with IT to assure that Radiology information systems-applications, hardware and support systems (examples:

VPN, Interfaces, integration tools) both facility and home, are current, have maximum up-time and are maximally utilized. Provides high quality support to the Radiolgist group practice and the Radiology department.Tasks and

Participates as the Operational partner with IT to define requirements, source and evaluate new or upgraded information systems specific to Radiology (picture archives, middle-ware and viewers, dictation systems, 3D re-construction apps, add-ons to equipment software, etc). Assists with the development of RFIs/ RFPs and with evaluating vendor responses and information related to systems. Partners with each vendor and IT to plan and execute implementation of new or upgraded systems.

Builds content for data dictionaries, develops flow diagrams, defines test scripts and performs testing, establishes configuration settings to assure appropriate user interface. Defines controls, audits and reports. Assists with the development of the hardware, network and integration planning for Radiology information systems.Provides end user support during implementation, including designing and implementing the training plan, creating system edits, performing audits, creating workflow re-design and conducting issue support.

Works with IT and vendors to problem solve issues. Assists in the development and application of policies and procedures that will provide continual improvement to the service process. Assures that each system is maximized by building end user knowledge and use of features and functions.

Supports the identification, definition and resolution of production problems, providing 24/7 first call for support to the Radiologists for all application, hardware, VPN and interface issues. Has the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems that involve workflow issues and first line troubleshooting. Enters all tickets for Radiologists.

Defines the issue for the MIST team when a hand-off occurs. Specializes as application expert for 1 or more Radiology information systems, acting as the go-to person when questions, planning, development of issues arise. Trains other Radiology Informatics team members on application support.

Assures that, as application owner, each owned system is functioning as planned by auditing processes, system data and reports. Performs daily work to fix errors. Re-trains users if errors are process related. Enters tickets for system errors.
