GCI's Analyst, Operations Data Reporting will provide analysis and reporting based on the company's multi business units and associated data sets. Identify trends and anomalies that will assist teams in detecting trends and/or performance that could impact Customers and assist in making business decisions. Provide and present in detail report findings to all levels of stakeholders throughout the company. Prepare ad hoc, recurring, and projection reports to support departmental decision making, illustrate current performance, and maximize change management.

Essential Duties of Position:

Statistical Data Analytics

  • Collect, aggregate, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into performance.

  • Provide quantitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, insights and trends.

  • Coordinate to help identify network operational performance issues and meet SLAs, by tracking and analyzing key operational performance metrics and goals via management dashboards, scorecards, analytics, and alerting.

  • Design, develop, maintain, and distribute regularly recurring management reports that track performance, and statistical trends:

  • Gather and utilize end user reporting requirements to generate design proposals.

  • Partner with Business Line counterparts to establish any data feeds that are necessary to produce reports.

  • Develop and administer databases and multiple software programs that are necessary to produce requested reports.

  • Post-process data to stakeholders

Reporting:

  • Deliver and present reports and dashboards to internal/external customers and leadership

  • Develop report prototypes and various visualization solutions

  • Track and store reports, dashboards, and metrics following established guidelines

  • Support data analysis, data warehouses, repositories and reporting environments

  • Audit/maintain existing and new reports to determine if they meet stakeholder requirements and/or if they can be automated for quicker publication.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Technical Requirements:

  • Demonstrated proficiency level using Microsoft applications, i.e., excel

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of tables and queries at a minimum. Experience with forms, macros and linking to outside data sources is desired.

  • Experience with real-time analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau.

  • Ability to query databases and perform statistical analysis.

  • Understanding of telecommunication network infrastructure desired

  • Analytical skills: Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex challenging problems and situations leading to optimal solutions. Move easily between detail and conceptual levels. Must provide clear and insightful data analysis with an understanding of data analysis procedures and methods. Ability to deliver actionable insights that drive increase revenue and return on investment.

  • Organizational skills: Must be highly motivated and detail oriented, self-directed, takes initiative, and seeks out opportunities. Handles multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to maintain security of company assets and confidentiality of proprietary information.

  • Communications skills: Excellent verbal and written communication required. Must be able to articulate information in presentation format in front of internal and external customers. Communicates complex findings and ideas in plain language. Excellent ability to present reports, describe where the data comes from and identify important indicators and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to maintain security of company assets and confidentiality of proprietary information.

  • People skills: Demonstrated ability to work well with others under stressful, time restricted conditions, displaying patience and tolerance and promoting teamwork. Build and maintain effective working relationships with leadership, peers and vendors. Ability to work with diverse individuals from multiple professional disciplines in support of a common goal.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Three years' experience in data analysis and reporting required; to include experience in any of the below listed fields:

  • Real-time analytics and visualization tools

  • Data collected from monitoring business intelligence tools

  • Programming and business intelligence platforms and tools or large database systems

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, or closely related field required.

  • Or, in addition to minimum experience required; a combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis.

Physical Requirements:Office and Field Position: Ability to perform sedentary work, sometime over long periods of time in any given workday. Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to (25) lbs.

Working Conditions: Most activities conducted indoors under pleasant climatic conditions. Work can be intense and stressful due to time/resource limitations when scheduling multiple tasks with inflexible deadlines.

The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.

Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and a satisfactory driving record.

Must have working knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructures, Linux operating systems, scripting languages, and tools. Keen attention to detail. Must be familiar with Agile and DevOps concepts and practices. Experience with ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, and VMWare strongly preferred. ITIL v3 or higher certification desired. Work experience in Agile environment with application teams a plus. Microsoft, AIX, RedHat, or other IT certification helpful. This position requires criminal background investigation. Position requires extended periods of sitting. Minimal travel may be required. Tenure: Assignment to the Data Center Services Analyst I category 10, Data Center Services Analyst II category 09, Data Center Services Analyst III category 08, or Senior Data Center Services Analyst category 07 will be determined by the candidate's education and experience.
