The Matrix Sciences Laboratory in our Sherwood, Oregon location provides pesticide residue testing for clients throughout the country and internationally. It serves the agricultural and environmental communities testing needs with a comprehensive range of capabilities and services.

This work provides support for good agricultural practices, identifies contamination levels for cleanup sites, supports projects for government and academic researchers, help with spray drift conflict.

Summary/Objective

• Perform analytical testing of food & ingredients, plant tissue samples and soil & water using gas and/or liquid chromatography.
• Identify, communicate, and document non-conformities with instrumentation and methodologies, and assist with troubleshooting, assessment of root case and subsequent implementation of corrective actions.
• Perform routine and non-routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
• Participate in quality system activities, including maintenance of test and training records.
• Ensure sample turnaround time goals and other key performance indicators are met.
• Review & revision of controlled documents and procedures
• Participate in internal and external audits related to ISO 17025:2017 accreditation status.
• Under the direction of senior staff, conduct method validation activities including documentation and communication of results and status.
• Identify and assist with implementation of process improvements
• Adhere to lab safety procedures and reporting standards.
• Follow written Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Other duties may be assigned to assist with the operations of the lab.
• The general schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30 pm.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Sciences, preferably Chemistry. Relevant laboratory experience may substitute for educational requirements.
