The Analyst, Workers' Compensation will own the management of all Workers' Comp claims for the organization from inception through resolution while learning and understanding the corporate process. Preferably the position will be based out of the St. Louis Support Center but will entertain remote locations for the right candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage workers' compensation claims to include items such as return to work assistance, settlement negotiations, adjuster requests, etc.

  • Follow up on improperly reported claims to ensure adherence to procedures and policies.

  • Coordinate with Human Resources and/or Legal on claims requiring information related to FMLA, associate personal records or subpoenaed claims and requests from defense counsel.

  • Communicate weekly reports and provide other information and reporting as requested.

  • Assist with the fresh dough facilities (FDF) by participating in facility-specific claim reviews and providing info on workers' compensation issues.

  • Manage the daily information and direction to the adjusters on Panera's workers' compensation claims.

  • Participate in quarterly claim reviews to review action plans with adjusters.

  • Provide wage statements for lost work time claims to ensure associates are paid appropriately and timely.

  • Issue employment release settlement checks timely.

  • Review the claim and lag reports per period and share as appropriate.

  • Calculate and make Quarterly Premium payments, as necessary.

  • Monitor claims for monopolistic states.

  • Review reserve requests for accuracy.

  • Review settlement requests for accuracy and write up concurrence to Management.

  • Issue employment release settlement checks if applicable.

  • Assist in the completion of the annual BLS/OSHA forms.

  • Complete Minnesota Form 300 annually for applicable locations.

  • Notify insurance carriers, brokers, and vendors of café status/district code changes monthly.

  • Monitor Risk Management email and file first report of injury in proper folder.

  • Act as backup for Sr. Manager, Risk Management for variety of functions.

  • Other risk management work, as necessary.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

  • 3+ years' workers' compensation experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and empathetically with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.

  • Strong technical skills, with a demonstrated interest in learning new technologies and claims related programs.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and claims management systems.

  • Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Flexible team player must be quick to switch directions as circumstances dictate.

  • Must keep integrity at the forefront in every aspect of the job.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing this job, the incumbent is regularly required to stand, sit, talk hear & use hands and fingers to operate keyboards.

  • This position will have approximately zero direct reports.
