Position Description

GfK Automotive provides a suite of ongoing studies monitoring consumer attitudes and purchase behavior in the automotive market. Each client (aka account) purchases a combination of syndicated and/or proprietary research deliverables from GfK including data and analysis/consulting deliverables.

An Analyst is responsible for creating engaging deliverables tailored to the client, building client relationships, consulting with clients on key business issues, developing proposals, and contributing to thought-leadership of Automotive syndicated deliverables. This individual should have a passion for automotive, insight generation, and a strong client service orientation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development and oversight of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc report deliverables tracking brand and model health, marketing effectiveness, and demand for automotive brands.

  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate study findings in an engaging manner. Integrate insights from GfK research with outside sources to provide a holistic analysis that tells a story.

  • Analyze data with SPSS to identify deeper insights and underlying trends and opportunities for our clients to leverage.

  • Consult with clients and provide recommendations on how to improve their brands based on market research study findings.

  • Provide excellent customer service that deepens existing client relationships.

  • Assist in managing changes to current studies and contribute to the development of new products.

  • Collaborate with project management team to execute project specifications and deliver quality results to clients.

  • Assist with creating proposals and pricing for renewals and new business opportunities.


Experience and Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in the market research industry or in a role responsible for analyzing data and writing reports.

  • Experience using SPSS.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to create impactful graphical presentations of data in a variety of formats and frame/direct analyses.

  • Ability to anticipate, quickly address and make correct decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to interact with clients professionally on data inquiries, business issues and new business opportunities.

  • Familiarity with or working experience in the automotive industry (terminology, makes/models, upcoming launches, key trends, etc) preferred.

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and if necessary within North America to represent GfK Automotive


  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university

Responsibilities * Assist the Community Team (Customer Success Team) with building predictive models to help increase engagement and usage across our customer base * Create dashboards and deliver insights * Lead advanced analysis designed to increase operational efficiencies * Support the senior members of the Data Team in their effort to provide expert analysis to the company * Design and analyze a variety of A/B tests * Write SQL queries to extract data, clean and analyze data in Python or R, and prepare presentation The Ideal Candidate * Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, including but not limited to mathematics, engineering, computer science, or economics. * 2+ years in a highly analytical role, including but not limited to business analyst, data analyst, or data scientist working for a company that develops software. * 1+ years of professional experience using SQL. * 1+ years of professional experience using a scripting language, including but not limited to Python or R. * Demonstrated experience retrieving data, cleaning and preparing data for analysis, performing data analysis, and presenting and defending analysis. * Demonstrated experience visualizing analysis (plus for working with high-dimensional data). * Demonstrated experience explaining technical material to non-technical audiences. Some Pluses * Master's degree in a quantitative field * Strong statistical and mathematical background * Experience with any business intelligence tool (e.g. Looker, Chartio, Tableau, etc.) * Presenting or visualizing insights involving high dimensional data * Background in Economics * Extremely detailed oriented.
