Key Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced models and conduct analysis using a broad range of quantitative tools and techniques (trend analyses on past performance, root cause analyses, analysis of profitability drivers, scenario modeling for future options, etc.)

  • Manages the input and update of data for several initiatives and from multiple departments

  • Create reports and presentations for senior leadership

  • Perform analysis of data to identify adverse trends, verify effectivity of corrective measures, and identify potential for performance degradation

  • Develop expertise in analyses focusing on specialized functions

  • Analyze and interpret data for use in management reviews and decisions

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research Analysis, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3 years of experience as an analyst

  • Strong data gathering and analysis skills

  • Must be a highly motivated individual that requires minimal supervision

  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills

  • Must have the ability to drive for results in a cross-functional team environment

  • Strong proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools (MS Access)

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management

  • Ability to make recommendations based on data and analysis

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

  • Advanced Engineering Degree

Duties Summary The Public Utilities Rate Analyst VII is responsible for planning directing, and participating in the review and analysis of tariffs, rates, charges, and fees imposed by regulated public utility and transportation companies. This includes evaluating and making recommendations to the Public Utilities Commission on matters pertaining to the rate schedules, rate bases, allocation of costs, and effects of rates; conducting special studies and investigations to test rate levels, cost formulas, and cost evidence; and collecting and maintaining appropriate rate and tariff data; and performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Specialized Experience: Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in public utility and/or public transportation rate or tariff analysis work which required the application of fundamental knowledge and underlying factors concerned with the construction and application of public utility and/or public transportation rate schedules and the general comprehension of the basis used in formulation of classifications, practices, and regulations affecting the charges for public utility and/or transportation services. Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants must demonstrate possession of Supervisory Aptitude. Supervisory Aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibility or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
