Job Purpose

National Grid strives to make data-driven decisions regarding Transmission assets and how they are managed, maintained, and constructed. Asset Management and Data Management are key capabilities the company needs to strengthen to become world-class Transmission business. There is a gap between where we are today and where we need to be in order to deliver on key growth initiatives. A new team has been established to provide support and guidance to the organization in the development and delivery of these implementation plans.

Key Accountabilities

  • Educate colleagues to recognize data as an enterprise asset

  • Translate stakeholder requirements into data-oriented system specifications and collaborate with system designers to implement improvement initiatives

  • Contribute to building a catalogue of business terms, technical metadata, critical data elements, business rules, quality rules and their associations

  • Understand engineering practices and processes and how these impact choices in data models and system architecture

  • Support data quality management and quality metrics capability that will enable business compliance with Data Management standards.

  • Assist in developing, and provide support in creating business rules, data quality rules and applies data profiling.

  • Work with other business units stakeholders and data practitioners to gather, analyze and present critical data elements and its health status

  • Provide support to business to monitor, investigate, remediate and communicate data quality issues

  • Apply knowledge of end to end data flow and lineage from capture at source, to transform, to delivery and its business intent at each stage

  • Stakeholders this specialist will work collaboratively with include:

  • Transmission Engineers

  • Asset Management Specialists

  • Data Management Specialists

  • IT System Architects

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Experienced in providing good customer service.

  • Experience written/verbal communication skills.

  • Good time management and ability to work to deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or related areas. Graduate-level degree preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in supporting business in a Data Management or Asset Management capacity

  • Knowledge of data governance best practices

  • Leadership, coaching, persuasion, and relationship building skills

  • Ability to effectively interact with engineering, IT, and non-technical staff

  • A genuine passion for the benefits that good data management can bring to an organization

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with:

  • GIS-based data structures and tools (ex: Small World, ESRI)

  • Data management/profiling tools (ex: Informatica, Collibra, SAP Information Steward)

  • Power engineering and Transmission system design

  • Business intelligence and data visualization tools (ex: Tableau, iDashboards, R Shiny)

The scope of clinical data analysis includes reporting of patient outcomes, monitoring of medication and laboratory utilization, and analysis of other data as needed. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Developing professional expertise; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. * Builds productive working relationships. * May provide assistance to junior level staff with general tasks that require a better understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor. * Conduct ad hoc analyses of clinical data for Chief Medical Officer; Clinical and Scientific Affairs; Clinical Services; Operations Support; Operations Analysis; and other internal business customers. The scope of clinical data analysis includes reporting of patient outcomes, monitoring of medication and laboratory utilization, and analysis of other data as needed. * Develop, maintain, document, and run routine reports for internal business customers. Where applicable, follow existing procedures for automating recurring reports through the use of SAS macros, Unix scripts and Autosys scheduling. Participate in keeping these automation procedures up-to-date and thoroughly documented. * Summarize patient outcomes data for use by the business in monthly monitoring related to outcome incentive programs. This entails maintaining and running the related SAS program(s); evaluating summary statistics to ensure the data are complete and reasonable; summarizing the outcomes in spreadsheets and Power Point slides; and responding to questions from the business, as needed. * Create data files for research studies and data licensing agreements. Determine patient, record and data type inclusion criteria based on customer's stated needs. Evaluate whether the data values are within reason (mean, counts, range, etc…), and whether data cleaning is required. Develop detailed technical specification documents to accompany such data extracts, to be used by the customer (ie, users guide) as well as for internal reference. * Summarize results of data analyses in written reports and oral presentations, as required. * Maintain organized and well-documented SAS programs, SQL queries and other analysis-related documents. * Learn and adapt to new software packages, analytical tools and database environments, as required. * May refer to senior level staff for assistance with higher level problems that may arise. * Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary. * Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations. * Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor. * Other duties as assigned.
