Description

Gryphon Scientific is seeking applicants for an Analyst position to support two of Gryphon's Practice Areas (PAs), Internationally Engagement and All-Hazards Preparedness and Response & Chemical, Biological, Radiological/Nuclear (CBRN) Defense. The successful candidate will spend about half of their time supporting international engagement projects and the other half of their time supporting CBRN defense, public health and safety, emerging infectious diseases, or homeland security work. Both PAs will require the Analyst to collect and curate data from published literature, policy and plans documents, and other sources; conduct analysis; and summarize their findings in technical and non-technical documents for diverse audiences. The Analyst will also support the design and implementation of domestic and international workshops, exercises, and other various stakeholder engagement activities. This position requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong communication and client interface skills to develop and implement innovative, collaborative, and sustainable solutions. Our projects seek to strengthen health, laboratory and emergency management systems, improve cross-sector and regional collaboration, and address emerging threats worldwide. Duties

  • Collect, abstract, and synthesize information from peer-reviewed literature, policy documents, gray literature, and other sources for various analytic and strategic coordination tasks.
  • Develop written products designed for both scientific and non-technical audiences with guidance from Principal Investigators, Project Managers, and senior research staff. Examples of written products include policy and literature analysis, training and workshop materials, and planning and guidance/Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents.
  • Support external stakeholder outreach and coordination efforts involving large numbers of diverse attendees, including summary or due-out reports.
  • Build on their understanding of topics including but not limited to all-hazards emergency preparedness and response, CBRN defense, biotechnology, public health, infectious diseases, global health security, and One Health to help develop innovative solutions.
  • Provide status updates to project managers and team members and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Apply data visualization methods for written products and presentation materials.
  • This position involves occasional work at non-standard hours to participate in early morning or evening calls with international partners in other time zones.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a life science or related discipline (such as Public Health, Global Health, Biology, Emergency Management, etc.) with 3-5 years of experience or a graduate degree (see disciplines above) with 0-2 years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to government client requirements
  • Must have a valid passport or be willing to obtain one
  • Willingness to relocate to DC/MD/VA and work at Takoma Park, MD office location
  • Eligible to obtain a government security clearance

  • Familiarity with emergency management doctrine and concepts.

Travel Requirement

  • This position may require international travel 1-2 times a year, for approximately a week each time, to support in-person engagements involving international partners. Travel may be required to countries with vaccination requirements for entry.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000
