Stratas Advisors (a unit of Hart Energy) has an open position for an Analytics Analyst. The Analytics Analyst plays an integral role in the Global Energy Pricing Model team.
The Analytics team is responsible for processes and models that are used to develop global energy price forecasting as well as advanced analytical and predictive modeling. As we continue to grow, we need high caliber, motivated individuals to join our team.
Research and resolve a variety of data issues for energy information.
Develop data mining, statistical, and graph-based algorithms to analyze data sets. Prepare data for structuring analyses (e.g. transform, query, clean, etc.). Compile, review and format large amounts of energy related data, analyze the data, interpret and quantify trends on various aspects of energy information. Perform quantitative/mathematical/statistical procedures necessary to validate model parameters and performance.
Work collaboratively with a team leader to develop independent quantitative model and model implementation validation purposes. Create, maintain, run and improve energy price forecast models/systems. Develop understanding of market characteristics (market changes/conditions) that influence energy price.
Basic Qualifications/ Required Skills/Experience: BA or BS degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or Computer Science.
Master's degree in statistics, economics/econometrics or other quantitative fields is preferred. Strong knowledge of database management, programming, mathematical theory and practice. Understanding of basic principles of statistics.
Experience with statistical analysis, data mining, clustering, algorithm development is a plus. Strong quantitative and modeling skills, expert proficiency in data analysis/mining (SQL, R, ACCESS, VBA) is a plus. Experience with econometric modeling and various simulation techniques is a plus.
Must have knowledge for one of statistical software: SPSS, R, Matlab, EViews, Stata. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access and PowerPoint), specifically Excel spreadsheet application.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify relevant and significant content from research into internal and external data and reports. Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a team, be self-motivated, and be committed to the highest standards of professional integrity, maturity and judgment. Ability to work independently in a fast paced, production oriented environment.
Position Details: Full time position during the business hours of 8:30am-5:30pm; located within the offices of Stratas Advisors at 1616 S.
Voss Road, Suite 675, Houston, Texas. Potential travel required to present and prospective client offices, conferences, etc.
