General Motors is looking for a creative thinker who will understand complex business problems and determine system solutions. This person must have a passion for improving processes with innovation and automation. The Technology Optimization and Analytics Analyst will identify opportunities to automate or eliminate manual tasks and non-value add activities. The analyst will collaborate with teams within Controllership, Global Business Solutions, Finance and IT on the organization, prioritization and feasibility of proposed solutions.

As a member of the Technology Optimization and Analytics team, you will:

  • Partner with business teams to understand requirements of new business initiatives

  • Design and partner with IT to implement system solutions based on requirements

  • Develop and present data solutions to other members of the organization

  • Solve problems and develop new/enhanced control procedures to streamline existing business processes

  • Understand data structure, data interfaces and how data flows from source systems to the consolidation system to the forecasting systems

  • Recommend types of automations, analytics, and data processing approaches to apply to meet business objectives

  • Execute approved projects from ideation channels

  • Implement new technologies to support data analytics, dashboarding, enhanced control environment, and take work out initiatives

  • Select the best technology for approved solutions (e.g., HFM, SAP, Power BI, KNIME, Data Visualization, Robotics Process Automation)

  • Transition solutions to business resources for ongoing use, sustainment, and value realization

  • Define Controllership reporting strategy

  • Work with a high level of independent judgment and initiative, while being able to rapidly take on and assimilate work from existing team members when required

We are looking for the following education, competencies, and experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration, information systems, or equivalent experience

  • Experience with HFM, SAP, Power BI, KNIME, and/or Robotics Process Automation

  • Ability to collaborate with business, IT, and data analysis resources to capture, prioritize and document solution requirements, and drive measurable results

  • Ability to take a strategic, transformational point of view on the position

  • Passion for innovation and automation

  • Highly proficient Personal Computer skills and technology driven

  • Willing to take on additional responsibilities, attend training, and learn new technical skills

  • Complex problem solving and analytical abilities

Analysis of efficiency of our configuration processes is expected, with process improvement plans and automated solutions being developed as an outcome. Special projects will be assigned, working with the data warehouse and analytics team. This position will assist the Insurance Operations business unit to achieve the product delivery goals by providing configuration services including requirement gathering, system configuration, user acceptance testing, implementation and post-implementation support. This role requires the ability to provide data configuration services as prioritized by the configuration manager and/or team leader while establishing a collaborative one-team approach to accomplishing all product development through delivery goals. Job Responsibilities * Apply knowledge of DP&S products to product development through delivery process * Gather product requirements from DP&S Product Development team * Assist in product related configuration development * Execute configuration programming in test and production environments * Assist with unit testing of the system configuration * Provide defect resolution and support during system testing and user acceptance testing * Assist with the development of the User Acceptance Test Plan on Product Releases * Perform production support analysis on defects submitted to the configuration team * Perform SME role in system related projects to help define correct system implementations * Locate and define new process improvement opportunities * Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality * Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain consolidation processes Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Information Science or similar background * 1-3 Years of Data and Business Analysis required * Ability to work across cultures and functions * Strong Microsoft Access & Excel * Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills * Programming Proficiency: (possible applications/languages) Visual Basic, Oracle SQL, JAVA and Cognos * Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Information Science or similar background Ally Overview Ally Financial Inc.
