Corteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont has an exciting job as an Analytical Technologist within the Analytical Technology Center Direct Lab Services group, which provides analytical support to the manufacturing facilities in Midland, MI Operations. The successful candidate will support manufacturing operations by consulting with the plant client to understand their needs, conducting laboratory analyses as needed to provide critical data, and reporting the results to the client. Preparation of samples, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and use of data systems to acquire data and track time are included within the job scope.

This position requires the development of expertise in a variety of analytical techniques, with a particular emphasis in one or more of the following areas: separations using HPLC and GC, spectroscopy using IR, FT-IR, NIR, MIR, ion chromatography, pH, particle size distribution, Karl Fischer moisture analysis, etc.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with plant and site EH&S policies

  • Perform routine and special project analyses as necessary

  • Perform method validation studies

  • Ensure documentation and analysis is in compliance with identified quality systems

  • Perform calibration and routine maintenance of analytical equipment

  • Perform instrument troubleshooting as needed

  • Participate on a cross functional team to support business or organizational needs

  • Conduct instrument qualification as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have a commitment to a high degree of quality in their work, and must demonstrate a good attention to detail.

  • Good lab techniques, methodical record keeping, and the ability to work both independently and with co-workers are required.

  • The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, demonstrate initiative and work under pressure.

  • The individual must also have well-developed ability to generate, interpret and report data.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required to communicate with team members, partners and external customers.

  • The successful candidate may sometimes be required to manage issues on off-hours or holidays.

  • The candidate must be able to accept on-call responsibilities and work overtime as required to meet business needs

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous laboratory experience working in an analytical laboratory setting is preferred.


  • A Minimum of an Associates Level degree is required.
  • A degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.) with strong preference given to candidates with a Bachelors degree in a science field is preferred.

The successful candidate will specialize in Health and Safety and will work in one or more facilities located in Michigan Operations. Under the direction of the EH&S Delivery Leader, the H&S Delivery Technologist is responsible for the maintenance of H&S management systems, work processes, standards and procedures in order to meet business and site objectives. The H&S Technologist will work closely with plant personnel and other members of the EH&S Delivery team to ensure excellent EH&S performance and full compliance with requirements. * Participate in plant EH&S performance improvement efforts. * Participate in and potentially facilitate root cause investigations. * Conduct internal plant audits and assessments (e.g. safety, housekeeping, and compliance). * Creation and presentation of high quality monthly safety meetings. * Update, maintain and rollout of new EH&S Safety Standards, tools and work processes. * Help to establish, track and drive improvement in key EH&S performance metrics (training, corrective actions, housekeeping, compliance task completion etc.). * Completion of corrective actions from audits, assessments and incident investigations. * Maintain H&S operating discipline. * Work a turnaround schedule, including overtime and weekends, to provide H&S support during turnaround activities. Required Qualifications: * A minimum of 3 year manufacturing, industrial or similar experience. * Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Strong reading comprehension and listening skills. * Demonstrate leadership skills, inspire others and lead then through change. * Able to work with an empowered team environment. * A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks. * Responsive to client's needs through proper planning and prioritization. * Able to work independently and overcome obstacles to achieve results with limited supervision. * Must challenge/question work practices in an effort to continuously improve them. * The potential candidate must be able to successfully work with a variety of individuals to achieve plant goals and objectives as well as support site processes. * They must fully support the initiatives of EH&S both as a business and a site. * Able to follow procedures and processes. * Able to follow all safety processes. * Must have a current, valid US driver's license. * A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
