Job Description Summary:

Maxim's Advanced Research and Development group is seeking an analog/mixed-signal IC designer to join our team. As part of this role, you will develop key strategic IP that will be leveraged across multiple businesses/product opportunities throughout the company. Focus areas may include data converters/sensors, PLLs/clocking, and core analog functions, however exposure to other design areas such as power management is likely.

Job Description:

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, simulate, and verify analog and mixed-signal integrated IP, taking developments from definition to completion

  • Work closely with layout engineers to determine best strategies for minimizing parasitic/proximity effects and to optimize matching and overall performance

  • Create test/characterization plans to fully evaluate/debug IP

  • Document and present each design and corresponding results

  • Support characterization/debug in the lab/ATE environments

  • Work with teams across the company to support IP integration

Minimum Requirements:

  • MSEE and 2+ years experience or PhD + 0 years experience, with focus on analog or mixed-signal IC design experience

  • Familiar with Cadence design/simulation tools

  • Understanding of parasitic/proximity layout effects and mitigation/optimization techniques

  • Ability to problem solve at the circuit/systems levels

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Passionate about learning about different areas in design, applications, and products

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Design experience with ADCs, DACs and PLLs

  • Signal processing knowledge

  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink

Job Description Summary: This position offers a highly technical, forward-looking opportunity to engineer innovative new solutions for emerging markets. Interface with business unit product definers and their tier one customers to accurately target challenging business opportunities with a compelling upside that can support a more aggressive technical investment and can tolerate an innovation-conducive two to five year development time horizon. Job Description: The successful candidate will have expert-level mastery of BiCMOS integrated power management functions, including switch mode power supplies (SMPS), battery chargers, LED drivers, charge pumps, LDOs, and interface circuits; hands-on experience delivering best-in-class circuit designs for amplifiers, monitors, references, comparators, protection circuits, gate drivers, and innovative low-power and precision analog; and a proven track record of innovation at all levels, including system, architectural, toplogical, control, circuit, device, and process. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: * Represent Maxim in customer-facing meetings and dialog with end users to gain understanding of future challenges and opportunities for innovation; * Propose novel system architectures and power conversion topologies, develop models and quantify their performance, and draw conclusions on viability. * Work with business unit leaders to align technology development efforts with BU product roadmaps. * Oversee all aspects of enabling technology investment efforts, including new process and device development, discrete component collaborations with vendors, and custom package capabilities. * Lead a team of circuit design, test, and layout engineers to successfully develop new technology platforms suitable for market entry and BU productization. Minimum Qualifications: * MSEE degree with 12+ years experience, or PhD degree with 8+ years of experience, in analog or mixed-signal IC design and development; * Ability to understand new technology topics, think creatively, and evaluate quantitatively; * Track record of innovation in power management IC design; * Hands-on design experience with BiCMOS/CMOS mixed-voltage custom analog circuit designs; * Must possess strong intuitive and analytical understanding of transistor-level design and simulation, device physics, and process technologies. * Proficiency with Matlab, Simulink, SIMPLIS, Verilog-A, or comparable high-level abstraction simulation environments.
