Amway hosts over 80+ interns each summer and offers programming events designed to assist navigating Amway culture, making the most of a summer internship, and building a successful career. The program provides exposure to a breadth of career fields and offers unique opportunities to learn business acumen, work cross-functionally and showcase their skillsets directly to hiring managers and executives.

Internship Eligibility:

This job posting is for our summer 2021 Internship Program (May - August); qualified candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and one semester or more left of school to complete at the beginning of their internship. Candidates who have graduated are not eligible to intern.

Internship Job Title: Packaging Engineer & Scientist Intern

The packaging engineering function is paramount in the product development process carried out by a multi-disciplinary team. The team's objective is to inspire our Millennials and Kids product category, creating new products that engage our Amway Business Owners (ABO's) and attract global consumers.

How would an intern contribute to the team's success? Working with the Millennial and Kids Platform technical team, she / he will work under the mentorship of the Packaging Engineer providing assistance to develop packaging with an open innovation mindset and thinking creatively to contribute packaging options as well as putting in practice his / her academic training. The Packaging Engineer / Scientist intern will also contribute in the packaging testing and transferring to manufacturing as well as packaging component development.

She / he will gain hands-on experience in the packaging development as well as working in a multidisciplinary team providing exposure to a variety of departments and interact with various levels of the organization. He / She will understand the packaging function in the product development from the bench-top and at the various steps of the scaling-up processes. They will also gain proficiency with the various systems (Clarity, PLM, STARLIMS) used in the product development process.

An example of a typical project is: Development of packaging for a variety of product formats (snacks, bevrages, etc.) for kids

What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship?

Desired Skills:
Understanding of packaging engineering / science

Desired Degree: Packaging Engineering / Science (Third Year Completed). Graduate students in areas of Packaging Engineering / Science are welcome as well.

Internship Job Title: Packaging Engineer Intern What is special about this team: Packaging I&S is responsible to design and develop innovative package solutions that communicate the brand, support the ABO and delight the customer by delivering a superior consumer experience. How would an intern contribute to the team's success? Candidates will leave with an understanding of the Product Development process. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop packaging and/or packaging recommendations in support of a new product launch, cost savings or quality improvement. You will work closely with other Packaging Engineers, have access to our state-of-the-art Packaging Lab and will have the opportunity to visit our on-site manufacturing plants (Cosmetics, Personal Care, Nutrition, Cartons & Labels and Bottle Blow Molding). You will gain exposure to a variety of departments involved in the development process and get the opportunity to interact with various levels of the organization. An example of a typical project is: Conduct competitive review, establish the profile design criteria, identify solutions, test plan design and execution and/or establish specifications to meet project objectives. You will have the opportunity to support Packaging R&D sustainability goals related to components and materials. What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship?
