External Job Description

Position Specifics: Fleet Support group is currently seeking a Recruiter to support our operations at the San Diego Shipyard. Selected candidate must have full life cycle recruiting experience with Applicant Tracking System experience. Position will require local travel. Must be able to obtain/maintain DBIDS credential. Selected candidate will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends to support hiring. Must have prior experience participating in campus recruiting activities such as presentations, career fairs, mock interviews and/or resume review workshops. Must be an independent self-starter with a desire to deliver exceptional customer service. Must have superior organizational, prioritization and verbal/written communication skills.

The recruiter is responsible for full life-cycle recruiting: recruiting, screening and recommending placement of staff by using creative sourcing methods with an emphasis on identifying and recruiting skilled labor, Additional duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Pre-screen, qualify, and source external candidates for multiple levels of employment.

  • Engage in on-going communication with candidates and hiring managers throughout the hiring process.

  • Counsel candidates on corporate benefits, salary, and company culture.

  • Participate in military recruiting activities, job fairs and networking events.

  • Identify future talent needs and proactively recruiting and sourcing; develop talent pool

  • Ensure each applicant's progression through the selection process is documented in the applicant tracking system.

  • Build and maintain networks and professional relationships with trade schools, and professional/trades organizations.

  • Act as main point of contact for trade school applicants and referrals.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning employment and the interviewing process.

Conducts interviews to recruit prospective employees and refers job applicants to specific job openings. Evaluates employment factors such as job experience, education and training, skills, knowledge and abilities, physical and personal qualifications, and other data pertinent to classification, selection, and referral. Prepares rating on applicants, makes recommendations on starting salaries, and provides applicants with information on the company. May administer tests and interpret results, check references, arrange transportation of selected applicants, extend formal job offers, work with outside agencies and vendors, etc. Perform other HR recruiting duties as required.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors in related field and 3 years of relevant professional experience. An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is additional to subsequent relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
