As the New Product Procurement Sr. Manager for our Air Management Systems Business Unit located in Windsor Locks, CT you will have the responsibility to 1) lead a team of New Product Development associates through all phases of product development (proposal, preliminary design, final design, production readiness, transition to production), 2) support the Product Cost Reduction team activities, and 3) act as the Supply Management focal point for Business Unit concerns.
The role will focus on taking new products though the development life cycle while working in an Integrated Product Team structure. A key activity will be to develop and execute standard work within the Procurement function for both development programs up to and including transition to production and for supply base transitions.
The position requires a strong integration with the core Supply Management team; leveraging the Commodity Strategies and Global Sourcing initiatives to maximize the impact of new programs for cost, quality and delivery.
The individual will manage a team of associates and be responsible for execution of development programs in terms of delivery, quality and design to cost targets.
The role requires direct interface with Senior Management both within the Air Management Systems Business Unit (VP/GM, Directors, Program Managers, Engineering & Operations) and within the Supply Management functional organization and serves as the link between the business unit and the supply chain organization.
The role requires an understanding of Global logistics with a knowledge base that includes the basics of State and Commerce Department import/export compliance requirements.
Understanding procurement activities in total Aerospace product lifecycle. Design, development, testing, production, aftermarket.
The position requires the ability to develop and meet key program metrics for the team in addition to standard commodity metrics as defined by the Business Unit and Supply Management control towers.
The individual will lead and prepare the Procurement team and support the Business Unit in Customer and Third Party audits.
The individual must adhere to procurement manual guidelines and exhibit ethical business behaviors at all times.
Experience and Qualifications:
5+ years' experience in Engineering, Manufacturing and/or Supply Chain disciplines with increasing levels of responsibility Experience in negotiating complex contracts
Experience developing meaningful external relationships
Knowledge of Supply Chain management in the Aerospace organization is a plus
Project/Program Management Experience
Prior Supervisory experience a plus
A track record of managing to plan and achieving customer satisfaction
Proven leadership and communication skills
Cost sensitivity and business judgment with proven bottom line results
Ability to lead in a collaborative team environment
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Supply chain/Project related disciplines. A Master's Degree is desirable with some elements of Business Management.
Bachelor Degree required in related field.
