Assists in all aspects of bank wide oversight for Sanctions Compliance, which includes the Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC") as regulated by the U.S. Department of Treasury. Other duties may be assigned which may include the monitoring of activities relating to the USA/FFIEC's Bank Secrecy Act Anti-Money Laundering Examination Manual's guidance.
The AML/OFAC Analyst is responsible for assisting the AML/OFAC Senior Investigator and VP, AML/OFAC Manager in day-to-day monitoring and/or investigation of potential suspicious activity, ensuring accurate and timely submission of all required reports (i.e. SARs), conducting enhanced due diligence reviews, and reviewing other new or existing high risk customer relationships for the bank, conducting OFAC, 314a list and other Sanctions searches to ensure timely and accurate updating of lists to the Bank's systems and to ensure potential matches are identified; communicates findings to Sr. AML Investigations Officer's or VP, Manager for a resolution that may include restricting or freezing an account or assets of.
Conduct OFAC and other government watch list screening and research on new, existing and potential customers.
Conduct periodic internal account/customer reviews to identify potentially suspicious activity.
Complete analysis of transactional information to identify risks, trends and potential suspicious activity and communicate findings to Sr. AML Investigations Officer's, or VP Managers when necessary.
Document steps taken through the process for review.
Communicate with branch/lending employees to obtain information related to their client's transaction activity.
Assist with the execution and/or implementation of projects, processes and initiatives.
Prepare Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in compliance with established regulatory guidelines and time frames when necessary.
Ensures OFAC screening reviews are completed timely and are accurate, including appropriate OFAC list updating.
Assists branches and other support departments in reviews of potential OFAC suspects, ensuring timely and documented response for each suspect case. Identifies OFAC and other Sanctions suspect transactions and customers; communicates findings to Sr. AML Investigations Officer, or VP Managers for a resolution that may include restricting or freezing an account.
Assists with the analysis and enhancements of high risk country program, ensuring timely updates are made to systems, applications and documented policy and procedures as required.
Assists with updating the Special Measures list (i.e., Section 311) into necessary screening systems and applications, conducting customer screening and ensures suspect reviews are timely, complete, and accurate, including identification, management and investigation escalation, and completion of required regulatory reporting as necessary.
Assists with the reviews of various reports utilized by the FCIU Department for purposes of completing daily activities. Performs review of related transactions to assist in determining if activity warrants further customer review or referral for potential investigation. Analyzes data and makes reasonable recommendations for action to be taken.
Refers unusual and suspicious activity for further SAR or EDD Investigation when necessary.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Commensurate experience considered.
Understanding of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), AML, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Self-starter, capable of working under minimum supervision.
Adept at multi-tasking and meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
Results oriented team player.
Strong problem-solving ability.
Exceptional research and analytical skills with the ability to analyze large amounts of data, decipher higher risk attributes (transactional, geographical, product, customer type, etc.) and disposition appropriately.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
Competent in in-house software and AML compliance monitoring systems.
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
