About the Role

The Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering Investigator (BSA/AML Investigator) is responsible for the monitoring of BSA/AML alerts and the creation and investigation of assigned cases. The BSA/AML Investigator will also prepare suspicious activity referrals based on the findings of their assigned investigations. The BSA/AML Investigator will review potentially questionable activity identified by the Bank's BSA/AML monitoring software and conduct investigations in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures to determine if further action may be necessary. If deemed appropriate, the BSA/AML Investigator will create questionable activity referrals for further review by members of the BSA Department's Management Team. If the investigation findings do not support the completion of a questionable activity referral, the BSA/AML Investigator will document findings in the case file and recommend closure of the case in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures.


  • Investigates and dispositions AML alerts and cases as assigned by their supervisor in accordance with the BSA Departmental Procedures. Performs case investigations derived from non-alert based sources, such as incident reports submitted by Bank employees or subpoenas received from law enforcement agencies. Researches and forms initial determinations regarding additional actions to be taken, such as completing questionable activity referrals, to present for final decision.

  • Responsible for written and verbal communication of findings with supervisor and BSA team. Effectively communicates with remote Bank employees during the investigation process as needed.

  • Attend training and BSA Team Meetings.

  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.

This is a Corporate Position, which can be located in an available bank division location across our eight state footprint in AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, UT, WA, or WY.

The midpoint within the wage range for this position is $28.30 per hour, and will vary depending on what city the applicant works in. All compensation offers are analyzed independently and consider the following: location, years experience, educational background, and existing internal equity.

About You


  • Minimum of three years experience in BSA related suspicious activity, High Risk Customer, and related investigation experience is required.

  • Minimum of two years experience utilizing BAM+ AML monitoring applications is required.

  • Prior experience using the following JackHenry systems is preferred: SilverLake Xperience or Browser, Vertex, 4|Sight, and Synergy.

  • Previous law enforcement experience a strong plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • A two-year college degree in business, finance, law, or criminology is required.

  • Professional certification is preferred: CBAP, CAMS, ACFE, ACFCS.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

Must be capable of occasional travel (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: * Perform the job functions embodying Goodwill's mission to include our culture, values, and vision. * Provide quality customer service and positive shopping experiences to deter theft. * Respond to customer and associate incidents where safety and/or company liability may be concerned. * Work with investigators or other LP (Loss Prevention) team members to investigate criminal violations and/or recover stolen merchandise. * Monitor inventory shrinkage and follow company procedure to minimize shrink. * Perform store surveillance as directed by management, such as maintaining focus on areas of visible shrink. * Verify accuracy of merchandise returns. * Prepare and maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation for inventory, merchandise returns, customer accidents, apprehensions and recoveries, and more. * Perform minor repairs around the store. * Learn proper safety procedures and train other store associates on these and other LP related issues, such as inventory control processes. * Maintain store monitoring technology and equipment. * Review surveillance video and exception reports for possible incidents of theft or fraud. * Understand and maintain rigorous compliance with the law and company policy regarding apprehensions, searches and seizures, and the preservation of evidence. * Detect and apprehend shoplifters per company policy. * Conduct safety checks and immediately report any hazardous or unsafe activity to management on duty. * Successfully complete all loss prevention training requirements and certification courses and keep credentials up to date. * Work collaboratively with Workforce and Family Services to provide participant services. * Follow all policies, procedures, and directives of Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest assuring safety of personnel or property. * Properly wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * Maintain agency confidentiality.
