The Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) inspires community volunteerism, connecting community members with their neighbors in need. VIP Fellows are AmeriCorps members who lead "behind the scenes" in existing schools and nonprofits (Partner Sites) to build sustainable volunteer programs.
Fellows do this through: 1)building systems to track, support, manage, and train volunteers and staff; 2)recruiting one-time and skill-based volunteers; and 3) raising funds to support the volunteer program. Fellows spend the majority of their time at their Partner Site collaborating with professional staff to build systems of volunteer management. VIP Fellows also spend time in the community building partnerships and connecting community members with service opportunities.
VIP Fellows are part of a statewide network of 120 Fellows. The San Diego cohort will have around 10 Fellows placed through the county. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference.
During the service year, VIP Fellows earn a Volunteer Management Certificate to build skills in volunteer engagement. Extensive training in nonprofit skills is also offered. Fellows will complete a Volunteer Management Certificate through Points of Light. The VIP Fellow team in San Diego is managed by Jewish Family Service of San Diego (JFS). Jewish Family Service is a client-centered, impact-driven organization working to build a stronger, healthier, more resilient San Diego.
