Summary/Objective
The roles and responsibilities of a school-based paraprofessional for the hearing impaired/intervener are relative to the needs of the individual student who is HI/Deaf.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
Facilitate the interaction between an individual student with HI/Deaf and their social and physical environment.
Provide primary access to the receptive and expressive communication of an individual student with HI/Deaf.
Identify (access) and maximize the opportunities for further educational progress and overall development (i.e., motor, sensory, social/emotional).
Provide input to the Teacher of the Hearing Impaired.
Provide support for the consistent and ongoing modification of instruction and development of associated educational materials.
Document the education progress of an individual student with HI/Deaf as directed by the Teacher of the Hearing Impaired or Director of ESS.
When needed, develop appropriate educational materials relative to the needs of the individual student as directed by the student's teacher(s).

Ability to operate most standard office equipment
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates at school sites.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
At-Will Notice of Employment does not provide a guarantee of a particular schedule of work or a minimum number of days or hours.
This is a 9-month, 32-hour per week position. The employee will work eight hours per day Monday through Thursday.
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED.
Experience working with children with hearing impairments.
Ability to sign.
Experience working with children with multi-sensory issues.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience in a public school setting.

None
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
