Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Assists with supervision of a clinic, unit or section of Ambulatory Procedure Technologists providing technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures and/or assisting team with the technical portion of the procedure. Performs all duties of an Ambulatory Procedure Technologist.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implements and enforces clinic policies in relation to:

  • Consistent adherence to standardized methods, corrective performance management, work schedules, work assignments and work safety standards; professional conduct, evaluation and reporting of medical tests, information and results; preventive maintenance equipment procedures and documentation. Identifies, implements and monitors operational changes for improvement to patient flow, room utilization and overall clinic functions. Monitors policies and operating processes.

  • Plans daily schedule and approves staff requests for time off. May enter, edit, verify and approve time records for each employee and ensures complete, accurate, timely information in the payroll software system. Resolves outstanding payroll errors in a timely manner. Ensure appropriate staffing levels during sick calls and vacations. Determines provider support needs and makes work assignments accordingly. Manages and monitors meal and rest breaks in accordance with federal and state regulations and to University policies.

  • Responsible for providing proper instruction and training to staff members in technical procedures and protocol. With RN oversight, precepts Ambulatory Procedure Technologists as needed. Provides additional instruction and training as required by changes in regulations, policies or protocols.

  • Provides input to personnel performance reviews. Provides written feedback on staff performance and communicates with staff about their performance. Makes recommendations to manager regarding disciplinary issues and hiring new employees.

  • Maintains strict Quality Control over assignment ensuring the highest quality of work performance and optimal clinic functioning.

  • Keeps abreast of new developments in respective field of clinical expertise.

  • Coordinates and consults when appropriate with other supervisory technicians and management to ensure adequate integration and/or synchronization of clinic operations.

  • Receives, investigates and resolves patient complaints. Creates and maintains appropriate documentation regarding complaints and resolutions.

  • Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.

Performs all duties of Ambulatory Procedure Technologist including:

  • Selects required equipment and supplies for procedures based on provider's preferences adapted for specific procedures and individual patients. Prepares room for procedures.

  • Assembles, tests and assures correct working order of all supplies and equipment prior to and during procedures.

  • Provides technical assistance to provider with technical requirements of procedure, collection of specimens using anatomical landmarks and knowledge of disease process. Management of specimen labeling and processing.

  • Applies principles of aseptic technique theories to equipment preparation and maintenance and when assisting with procedures. Identifies any potential compromise to sterile/High Level Disinfectant integrity of items throughout the procedure.

  • Disassembles, identifies defective or malfunctioning parts, and provides preventive maintenance for all procedures supplies and equipment. Performs all pre-cleaning requirements per regulatory standards of all endoscopes including inspection, leak testing, cleaning, high level disinfecting and identifying needed repairs. Follows established protocols for reprocessing endoscopes and accessories and for storing equipment.

  • Based on material and/or manufacturer's instruction, determines methods of High-Level Disinfection mode for products. Checks and calibrates equipment according to equipment protocol

  • Works with physicians and nurses in the selection of new inventory. Maintains professional relationships and communicates with vendors and internal purchasing department. Updates protocols and equipment/supply preference list of physicians.

  • Ability to perform ambulatory technician duties as assigned, such as, but not limited to obtaining and documenting vital signs.

  • Assist office staff with scheduling procedures and appointments.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • 4 years' of experience in patient care setting required or equivalent required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $23.28 - $32.59 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
