What you will be doing

Under the direction of a registered staff pharmacist or pharmacy technician, responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the pharmacy.

Greets patients and assists the pharmacy technician in obtaining the necessary patient clinical and prescription information.

Responsible for answering the telephone in the pharmacy.

Places orders and restocks all merchandise.

Operates the cash register.

Performs accurate cash and charge transactions in compliance with departmental and organizational cash control policy(s).

Verifies the security and accuracy of the cash drawer and related equipment.

Performs courier duties.

Completes daily reports and balances daily receipts.

May need to work extended hours or other variations of standard shift to ensure adequate care of patients and maintain service to the community.

Assists in the training of new pharmacy employees as directed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pharmacy Hours:

  • Monday
  • Friday: 7:00 am

  • 7:00 pm

  • Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 am
  • 4:00 pm

Pharmacy is open 365 days per year including all holidays. The Pharmacy Clerk typically works an 8 hour day Monday through Friday.

What your background should look like

Normally requires completion of a high school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of experience and education. Two (2) years of retail pharmacy experience is preferred. Computer and cash register/point of sale skills is preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills

  • Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions

  • Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, accountable and can effectively handle multiple tasks at one time

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
