Job Title:

Ambulatory Nursing Supervisor-SOD - SOD-Oral-Maxfcial Srg/Pathlgy

Job Summary:

Supervises staff and operations of nursing care for assigned areas or units. Schedules and ensures appropriate staffing. Ensure supplies and equipment are available. Works with chair and clinical directors to resolve issues pertaining to the assigned area or unit. Educates and consults patients and families regarding their concerns. Performs job duties in accordance with UMMC's purpose.

Education & Experience

Associate's degree in nursing plus three (3) years of RN experience, BSN preferred. Sedation experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Valid RN License, ACLS and PALS certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of nursing procedures. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and registered nurses. Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, tools, and programs. Supervisory skills. Possesses current competencies in nursing clinical practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises daily operation of assigned areas or units, including but not limited to adherence to nursing standards of practice and administrative initiatives.

  • Supervises and organizes the clinical staff schedule for the assigned areas or units in accordance with approved productivity standards.

  • Assists with training and mentoring personnel.

  • Supervises clinical staff on assigned units.

  • Contributes to or performs evaluations of clinical staff.

  • Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
