The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is a registered nurse whose practice is clinical nursing education and who oversees required education, competency, training, and professional development for the ambulatory nursing and medical assistant staff in the UCLA Health system. Encompasses the delivery of clinician (primarily nursing), professional/leadership development, policies, activities, assessment tools, and systems. Promotes excellence in patient care, through skill acquisition in evidence based nursing practice and clinical inquiry. Collaborates with ambulatory nursing leadership (RN Practice Coordinators, Director of Ambulatory Nursing, Ambulatory Nursing Competency Coordinator) and Operational and Physician colleagues to deliver educational programs and secure resources based on needs assessment and adult learning theory. Meets the diverse requirements of the ambulatory nursing for the enterprise, including supporting orientation, patient populations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of the organization/health system.

Salary: 95,900-222,100 annual

Job Qualifications

  • CA RN license

  • BSN or MSN required

  • BLS from AHA or ARC

  • Ambulatory certification preferred

  • Ambulatory clinic Minimum of 5 years' experience

  • Clinical Educator minimum of 3 years preferred

  • Ability to assess learning styles Skill in developing educational material for orientation and skills

  • Ability to recognize the need to reassess education needs

  • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer programs

  • Ability to understand oral and written directions

  • Ability to read and write Standard English.

  • Ability to communicate (orally, written) clearly and concisely. Ability to apply adult learning theories and strategies.
