Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written orders from physicians. Reviews and interprets prescriptions and drug profiles to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed and ensures that drug interactions are considered.
Contacts and confers with physicians and other practitioners to optimize drug therapy. Maintains inventory and records on narcotics and other forms of drugs. Participates in the routine supervision and training of technical staff related to daily operations of drug distribution.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Strong clinical skills; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; knowledge of inpatient and outpatient transition of care processes; team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience
Pharm D and Ambulatory/Retail Pharmacy experience preferred.
