VIEW JOBS 11/29/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-27T00:00 Richard Bland College (RBC) of the College of William & Mary in Virginia seeks a Part-Time Full Service Restaurant Manager who is an experienced operator with a strong background in people development, training, food and labor cost management to provide managerial and financial oversight to the business functions and personnel of the College's food service department. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will manage, direct and supervise the operational activities for all food services units, including the Cafe, catering, and concessions in accordance with RBC policies. The Restaurant Manager must also be innovative and entrepreneurial in spirit, will manage the execution of a year-round food service program of campus utilization and revenue generating activities. Additionally, the position will assist in the conceptualization, planning and implementation of new menu items, working closely with marketing personnel to optimize campus utilization, achieve net revenue goals and support a vibrant living/learning environment in alignment with the goals of RBC-19. The position works collaboratively with the Director of Food Service Operations and administration to understand and support the needs of its customers for sustainable, responsive and effective programs in Food Services and Concessions, as well as being an ongoing participant in planning involving the Food Service Department and its needs. The Assistant Restaurant Manager directs and coordinates the food services that support the social, cultural, and recreational interests of the College that meet student needs and facilitate student development while generating targeted net revenue. The College's five year strategic plan RBC-19 sets as a primary goal to establish and maintain a high performance organization and ensure financial and environmental sustainability, including developing and implementing revenue enhancement plans and deploying all financial, physical, IT and human resources in direct support of the mission, vision and strategic goals of the College. The Restaurant Manager will play a leadership role in managing and executing on the strategies to accomplish those goals. The Assistant Restaurant Manager will report to the, Director of Food Services and will be a key player in the management of the College's Food Service Operations. Strong interpersonal, financial, organizational, marketing and event coordination skills are required. Major responsibilities will include: ?Provide leadership to explore enhancements and new opportunities for food service to meet the needs of the campus and broader community while optimizing campus utilization and financial sustainability ?Oversee the financial forecasting and budgeting processes of all on-campus food services ?Oversee the use of event management scheduling software ?Generate, analyze and monitor cost reports; track and analyze sales and cost items ?Develop financial/business policies related to food service; assure compliance with RBC policies ?Monitor food service expenditures and coordinate with administrative leaders to identify problems and propose solutions ?Meet with managers of food services on a routine basis ?Oversee food service department to ensure high level of customer service and cost effectiveness ?Create fulsome business models ? research, plan for and implement programs related to any new product opportunities and new ventures ?Oversee development and maintenance of all policies and procedures related to food services and special events and ensure compliance with all state regulations ?Assure that food service maintains its financial solvency as an RBC self-sustaining organization and becomes a significant net revenue producing entity ?Assist in the development and negotiation of vendor contracts and requests for services/proposals ?Identify and recommend w Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Hotel Restaurant Management or related field from an accredited college or university -Experience that demonstrates success in appropriately applying the principles and practices of effective food service management -Effective leadership skills that can build and sustain management in campus food service operations -A track record of sustaining cooperative working relationships across a complex and diverse organization including members of the external Board of Visitors, College administration, faculty, staff, and students, as well as with members of the local community -Ability to collaborate and work with academic disciplines, diverse populations, administrative areas and the College culture -Strong project management, organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to draw conclusions, develop recommendations and clearly communicate both orally and in written communications Preferred Qualifications * Significant leadership and managerial experience in a casual dining restaurant setting -Strong coaching skills; ability to step outside role confines and help teach and enable other team members -Significant experience with restaurant operations processes and applications supporting high food quality -Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently; excellent organizational and delegation skills; and ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced food service environment -Demonstrated ability to bring a "best practice" approach to processes and procedures and foster a responsive ?student-centric?? orientation within food services on campus Special Requirements Anticipated hire date for this position is August 1, 2016.
