The Office of Alumni Relations and Volunteer Engagement seeks a Communications Specialist to help fulfill its mission to better serve and engage Baruch College's network of approximately 170,000 alumni. Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations & Volunteer Engagement, this person will assist the team in writing alumni magazine articles, producing website copy, contributing content to social media, as well as creating and sending broadcast emails.
This individual will assist in brainstorming content and writing a handful of articles for each issue of Baruch Alumni Magazine (released twice a year). These articles may include alumni profiles, campus news stories, and feature-length pieces. This individual will also assist in uploading completed pieces to the alumni magazine WordPress blog after each issue is finished. As part of the planning of each magazine, this individual will also help to lead the team's initial kick-off meeting, providing article ideas and suggestions.
This position also will help to create and send broadcast emails, including the monthly Alumni eNews, as well as working alongside other team members (primarily our lead event planners) to create marketing emails with punchy copy to compel alumni to RSVP for events. On the Baruch alumni website, this individual will assist in updating copy as needed and may have to create basic visuals to use in emails or landing pages, as needed.
This individual will also assist in posting content on Baruch's alumni social-media handles, primarily across Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
The person in this role will also assist in staffing certain events and programs hosted by the Office of Alumni Relations and Volunteer Engagement throughout the year, as needed.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties for the Communications Specialist will include, but are not limited to:
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Organizes alumni reunion events and other functions
Works collaboratively with other areas of the College to promote and maintain alumni participation in various initiatives such as student recruitment and career development
Tracks and analyzes data to assess outcomes of department events and activities
May supervise office operations and/or events budgets
Performs related duties as assigned.

$52,267 - $62,411; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
