Great Southwestern Construction, Inc. (Great Southwestern) provides a full range of electrical construction services to utilities, municipalities, government entities and private developers throughout the nation for transmission lines, distribution systems, communication systems, substations and renewable energy facilities. In addition, Great Southwestern also provides capabilities in pre-construction, Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) and design-build forms of project delivery, project controls and reporting, environmental compliance and quality assurance/quality control.
The Welder will work on substation projects throughout Texas and surrounding states. Significant travel is required.
Perform a variety of welding tasks of high voltage pipe bus.
If not welding they will be responsible for all other day to day task inside a substation
Fabricate a wide variety of metal structures either from verbal instructions, blue prints, drawings and written specifications.
Primarily MIG welding with mild steel
Any other tasks as directed
Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
Previous experience in aluminum welding
Ability to weld both vertical and horizontal
Ability to tack up and square up work
Must be able to read blue prints
Ability to meet safety standards using appropriate welding techniques
Understand various weld form symbols on blue prints
Certifications in MIG preferred by not mandatory
6G certification preferred
