Overview

Quality lead for Alpha Space Test & Research Alliance, LLC. Alpha Space owns and operates MISSE, a commercial testing facility on the ISS.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on quality engineer interested in commercial spaceflight, with a broad background that includes spaceflight hardware manufacturing and development, configuration management/control, vendor quality, working collaboratively as part of the engineering development team, and leading continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all Quality aspects of Alpha Space's spaceflight hardware development, refurbishment, processing, testing, and upgrades, including design, manufacturing, payload flight processing, configuration management/control, and vendor quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited university

  • At least two years recent space industry experience that includes developing and manufacturing human spaceflight equipment

  • At least five years of quality engineering experience

  • Deep knowledge of current industry quality standards and NASA standards for human spaceflight

  • Understanding of the International Space Station program quality system and requirements

  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal development teams to deliver high quality, fully compliant products on-time and on-budget

  • Experienced auditor internal and external audits

  • Working understanding of configuration control and configuration management

  • Ability to communicate clearly written and verbal

  • Positive attitude, comfortable with a dynamic environment

Preferred:

  • Engineering degree

  • Experience as a quality system manager

  • Experience writing proposa

Quality Project Lead Leads the introduction of new methods and processes into the Quality Control department via the technology transfer process, represents the department on project teams, and provides technical support during investigations. Job Description Participates in the initial assessment of new products and processes. Provides input to program management regarding Quality Control capabilities and requirements for method qualification/validation. Reviews applicable regulatory guidance and internal policy documents to ensure compliance. Provides technical review of Statements of Work to support contract manufacturing activities. Provides Quality Control representation to project team meetings. Responsible for relaying pertinent information such as production schedules and information requests to applicable Quality Control groups. Provides routine feedback regarding tech transfer and testing status. Supports stability program by gathering information needed to initiate protocols and tracks status of time point summaries. Relays status updates in a timely and accurate manner. Writes, reviews, and/or approves Test Records/Forms, Sampling Plans, and Specifications. Leads tech transfer activities related to Quality Control including generation of a Quality Control master transfer plan, method specific assay transfer protocols and reports, training plans, and project timelines Works in cooperation with Bioanalytical Services to design qualification, and validation protocols. May participate in the execution of such protocols as needed to support lab(s). Assists with Quality Control procurement, setup, and validation activities for new equipment and materials required to support new methodology. Assists with responses to audits, deviations, out of specification investigations, and corrective/preventative actions. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and intermediate relevant experience in a related field. Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Plant environment. Skills Technical Knowledge Experience with method validation and technology transfer required. Knowledge of biological cell based assays such as proliferation/cell count and viability, flow cytometry, ELISA, and PCR preferred. Prior experience working with cell or gene therapy products a plus. Able to develop and deliver training programs for specialized and advanced activities. Trains trainers on how to develop effective on the job training.
