Provide All-Up-Round Systems Integration Engineering.

  • Knowledge of system interface requirements and requirements management as well as techniques to drive system behaviors.

  • Experience preparing briefings and documentation

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

  • Knowledge of how to develop M&S plan to support analysis products

  • Familiar with conducting reviews of entrance and exit criteria.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Active Secret Clearance

Required Experience

  • Senior level experience in Systems Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering for major defense acquisition program office or OEM.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle through experience in major defense acquisition projects.

  • Experience in developing and monitoring key performance parameters and maintaining technical/production risk.

  • Knowledge of major review entrance and exit criteria and experience conducting reviews

  • Recent knowledge of interface control documents, technical baselines, and configuration control management process.

VIEW JOBS 7/9/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-10-07T00:00 This opportunity will provide technical leadership and operation systems engineering technical implementation and guidance to the MSFC Space Launch System (SLS) Stages Element as an Alternate Element Discipline Lead Engineer (EDLE) for Operations. The successful candidate will coordinate and interface with multiple projects, engineering disciplines, and system elements to aid in the development of systems engineering activities and products in support of the SLS Stages Element design and the SLS Engineering Support Center operations and sustainment. They will participate in reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies. Specific support to be provided and performed includes, but is not limited to: * Provide technical leadership and guidance to aid in the development of systems and operational engineering activities and products to support the Stages element design, development, test, and integration efforts. * Evaluate prime contractor efforts and assess technical progress in relation to the established schedule and resources allocation. * Provide support associated with programmatic processes and documentation, process definition, and other systems engineering management and planning functions. * Serve as a liaison between the Stages Element Office, the Stages Chief Engineer, and the Stages Element Lead System Engineer (LSE) with the Stages Operations EDLE to coordinate data needs and deliveries. * Arrange Operations Engineering support in response to requests. * Coordinate face-to-face meetings and implement technical actions. * Develop technical and partnering agreements. * Communicate SLS Program-level Operations Engineering policies and requirements to the Stages Element. * Define, develop, and evaluate flight and ground systems operational requirements and objectives, mission requirements, and supportability design considerations that integrate components, assemblies, subsystems, and systems into the overall ground and flight system or vehicle. * Analyze flight hardware for logistics support and ground support equipment requirements. * Exercise technical aerospace engineering knowledge, insight, and judgment in identifying and resolving technical failures, performance deficiencies, design faults on systems, equipment, and/or hardware. * Participate in document and milestone reviews to include major milestones, review evaluation planning, and internal products. * Lead/participate in task teams, working groups, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), conferences, and training, which may involve travel to NASA Centers and contractor facilities. * Employ proven systems engineering and project management strategic processes and techniques. * Evaluate design requirements and limitations of an uncertain nature, under which systems and/or equipment must operate; oversee design, development, integration, test, evaluation, operations, and long-term sustainment of flight vehicle and/or ground infrastructure, software, and associated systems. * Provide support and expertise to trade studies, assessments, and independent analyses and provide recommendations as necessary to areas including, but not limited to, mission capability and operating procedures, systems engineering and technical management questions, issues, and risks affecting new design guidelines and program capability. Degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Masters with at least 18 years of experience, or BS with at least 20 years of experience. The candidate is required to have: * Experience developing and documenting requirements, processes, and/or procedures associated with aerospace flight and ground hardware design, development, production, test, verification, evaluation, integration, and/or operations. * Experience using technical project management to integrate solutions to issues to organize and lead technical discussions and to facilitate task team participation of document/data reviews. * Demonstrated experience and skills developing and delivering project briefings, negotiating and collaborating to resolve complex technical problems, and breaking down complex problems or issues into manageable pieces. * Knowledge of launch vehicle design and interfaces, system design, system engineering and integration. * Excellent written and oral technical communication skills – must be able to clearly define and describe a technical subject to peers across various engineering disciplines. * Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook). Desired qualifications and experience (presence of one or more of these qualifications will be used as a selection factor): * Experience with the development, integration, and processing of Launch Commit Criteria (LCC), Operations & Maintenance Requirements (OMR), Logistics Support Analysis, Flight Rules, Day of Launch support, Ground Support Equipment, and Integrated Test & Checkout efforts. * Experience in Launch Vehicle Ground Support Equipment (GSE) requirements, implementation, and/or manufacturing. * Experience in project planning and technical integration. * An understanding and knowledge of the current SLS program and a working understanding of the Stages interfaces and subelements. * Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to technical management. Essential Functions Work Environment Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%).
