Continuous Improvement Manager - Greer, SC

Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, Operations, the Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for maintaining all Continuous Improvement systems to improve quality, efficiency, and thru-put across all manufacturing facilities. With the emphasis of driving manufacturing costs down and efficiencies up, they will help to monitor and improve continuous improvement, training record keeping, job performance competency, and internal/external funding assistance.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health and safety of all Alltrista associates.

  • Reduce Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Material Costs through the use of Lean Tools and data analytics.

  • Improve the quality, production efficiencies, and lower the overall cost of non-conformances through documented training and process improvements across all the manufacturing sites.

  • Develop and create OPL's, Standard Work, and process documentation to aid in training and identifying Best Demonstrated Practices.

  • Work with cross functional teams to define and set the expectations of lean manufacturing practices and efficiency for existing and new programs, and ensure proper training and documentation is in place to meet those standards.

  • Identify and secure local, State, and Federal training funding opportunities to support continued learning and development for all levels of staff.

  • Lead Kaizen Events and build Champions within the various Alltrista sites.

  • Drive the Continuous Improvement program to meet and exceed annual financial and personnel goals. A year over year goal of reducing costs by 3-5% annually.

  • Propose capital requirements to achieve returns.

  • Coach and train staff to apply, support, sustain and develop a Continuous Improvement culture to include VSM, Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and best practices alignment across all facilities.

  • Prepare and/or present continuous improvement and quality/efficiency improvements/challenges presentations.

  • Actively engage at all levels of personnel within the facility to promote Alltrista's Values: "Play to Win" "Positively Impact People's Lives" and "Count on Me."

  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the corporation, and the community; maintain professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

  • Special assignments at Alltrista Sites.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to apply VSM and implement Lean Manufacturing Tools (Gemba, Standard Work, Visual Factory, Problem Solving, etc).

  • Must have experience leading training initiatives and be able to pass knowledge on to key plant personnel.

  • Excellent computer capabilities, including MS Office and the ability to analyze and interrupt data.

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals both internally and externally

  • The ability to work with and maintain information of a highly confidential and sensitive nature.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to display diplomacy in day-to-day interactions with the commitment to task with awareness of urgency.

  • The ability to work independently and work as a value add to plant team efforts.

  • Experience championing LEAN initiatives within a manufacturing environment, Experience facilitating and leading Kaizen events.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

  • Ability to lift 25lbs. occasionally.

  • Sitting at a desk or workstation approximately 50 percent of the work time. Standing and walking approximately

  • Ability to work extended hours and/or travel with short notice; occasionally on weekends.

  • Normal office, manufacturing, and laboratory environments and travel by automobile and commercial transportation.

  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
