ALLIED HEALTH EDUCATION -TENURE TRACK FACULTY

Starting Salary $81,219 - $82,551

LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington

DESCRIPTION: Edmonds College is seeking an Allied Health Education Tenure Track Faculty member for the Medical Assistant program. The Our Colleges, Our Future Act of 2021 is intended to guarantee both equitable access and educational success for all, particularly for students from communities of color and low-income communities.

As an Allied Health Education Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in a variety of classroom and skills lab courses in the Medical Assistant program and general courses common to a variety of Allied Health programs. In this role you will be responsible for developing inclusive and equitable curriculum, preparing teaching materials, developing and assessing learning outcomes to evaluate student work, assigning grades, maintaining required records, academic advising and consulting with students. Other responsibilities may include participation in: achievement of the college's mission and goals; upholding the college's values; the governance of the college via department and division work; committee assignments; required professional development and college in-service activities (including employee orientation and college compliance trainings); and personal and program evaluation, program accreditation activities, and attendance at industry and partnership meetings. The teaching assignment may include a variety of early-morning, late-afternoon, evening, weekend, or online classes. This is a tenure-track position that reports to the Dean of Health and Human Services (HHS).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a health OR human services discipline such as public health, nursing, OR health care administration; OR Master's degree in a related field such as management, education, OR organizational development with 3 years of clinical experience as a medical assistant.

  • Current State of Washington MA-C certification.

  • Direct experience with patients or clients seeking healthcare services.

  • Evidence of or potential for college-level teaching experience in the area of medical assisting including classroom and hands-on lab skills instruction, or an equivalent combination of work and training experience in the clinical environment.

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom and office and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty are required to frequently use a computer and other technology in the work environment.

COMPENSATION:

The salary is based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education. The current range is $81,219 to $82,551 annually for a 172-day appointment with progressive increases to $98,518.56 annually. The college provides an excellent benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.
