MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet one of the following:
Certification and/or a four-year degree in either early childhood education, early childhood special education, elementary education, vocational home economics, family and consumer sciences, or child development, and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents;
A two-year associate degree or two-year certificate program in early childhood education or child development and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents;
Sixty semester hours or more of credit from an academic degree granting institution which is contained within the United Stated Department of Education's Director of Post-Secondary Institutions and two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents, as approved by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE);
Five years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents, as approved by DESE and a high school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of the week-long Foundational Curriculum and Model Implementation training; and
A family personal visit observation of an experienced parent educator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Supervisor in the implementation of the Parents as Teachers program as outlined by the Parents As Teachers National Center, DESE and guidelines established by the board of education
Participate in the Parents As Teachers Foundational and Model Training
Plan and conduct personal visits with families
Actively recruit families and participate in recruitment activities
Administer developmental, health, hearing and vision screenings on every child in caseload over the age of 3 months and participate in all mass screenings for children 3-5 years of age
Plan, participate in and summarize group meetings
Prepare and maintain accurate and timely records and documentation per program guidelines
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with families and staff

TERMS: Part-time with retirement benefits only; $18.78+ per hour depending on experience
EFFECTIVE: Immediately

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
Recommendation to be given at the July 2024, Board of Education meeting.
