Registered Behavior Technician 25-38.75 hours/week
Canterbury Public Schools is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Behavior Technician with a strong desire to work with children of various abilities and, quite often, children on the Autism Spectrum. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing evidence-based techniques for supporting the academic, communication and social/emotional development of children.
It is highly preferred for the candidate to have Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) training or in the process for BCBA certification. Bachelor's degree in a related field is highly preferred. Restorative practices with a trauma informed lens is a critical attribute of the ideal person for this position, which will be mostly at the elementary school level, but may include consultation or treatment at the middle or high school level.
This job will include data collection and implementing behavioral plans, often using the ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) style. The qualified candidate for this position will have a strong belief that children with disabilities add value to our school community and belong in classrooms with their non-disabled peers to the fullest extent that is appropriate. The person in this position may work 1:1 with students, in a regular education classroom, or with a small group of learners, and will be required to perform other duties as needed throughout the district.
The position is 25-38.75 hours a week. This is a non-union, grant funded position.
