Job Description:

Ledyard Public Schools is seeking (2) two Elementary Student Services Administrators beginning immediately. Under the guidance of the Director of Student Services, the successful candidate will oversee the K-5 Student Services programs, the Early Childhood program, and support the enhancement of student and family engagement. The Administrator engages regularly with building administration and staff regarding best practices to address student needs and to positively engage teachers, students, and families in the learning process.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees the Early Childhood program for school readiness compliance and NAEYC accreditation

• Provides direct classroom observation and feedback to teachers or related service providers to increase student engagement, improve performance, and individualize programs for students with special needs

• Facilitates Planning and Placement Team and/or 504 meetings

• Ensures timely follow through of IEP/504 development and implementation

• Supports building administration in monitoring all student engagement and attendance

• Conducts student services department meetings monthly

• Develops, secures, and/or conducts professional development when appropriate or necessary

• Monitors data related to compliance with federal and state timelines

• Supports elementary special educators on pedagogical strategies specific to literacy and math

• Supports elementary special educators in the implementation of programming for students requiring an ABA approach to instruction

• Supports elementary special educators and related services personnel in the implementation of programming for students with social and emotional needs

• Supports the vision, mission, and goals of the district related to equitable access to a free and appropriate public education

• Assists the Director of Student Services in program development as needs occur

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• CT Special Education Certification (065, 265) or other relevant certification preferred

• CT Intermediate Administration Endorsement (092) required

• Elementary education experience required

• Minimum of three years of special education teaching experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical approaches to foundational literacy and numeracy

• Knowledge of best practices to increase the engagement of students at risk and families

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with students, parents, community agencies, and school personnel

• Ability to plan, organize, and administer school-wide programs

• Outcomes-oriented with ability to analyze data to inform decisions

• Experience with administration and analysis of evaluations, data analysis, and report writing

• Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to 504 and IDEA

• Experience overseeing the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing

• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. at times
