Primary Purpose:

Responsible for identifying, counseling and referring alcohol and substance abuse clients to ensure optimal linkage for continued treatment in community support services.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Must have a Bachelor's in a Human Service field plus two years of related experience;

OR, must have six years of supervised Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling experience.


  • Must have a Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor license from the Texas Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission or be licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Skills or Special Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate knowledge of community resources of benefit to clients with alcohol and substance abuse dependencies.

  • Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
