Aladdin Wealth Product Analytics Analyst, Data Science

Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Solutions (BRS) is uniquely positioned to address the industry's risk management, portfolio construction and financial technology demands. The various business departments within BRS are focused on providing clients with highly scalable portfolio analytics & risk management, liability-driven investing & pension solutions, and regulatory advice & balance sheet strategy. BRS offers clients customized solutions powered by Aladdin, BlackRock's proprietary risk management system.

The Aladdin Wealth team within BRS leverages the same risk analytics used by $17 trillion of Institutional assets to equip wealth management clients with model construction capabilities, risk monitoring tools, and portfolio construction & analytics. Aladdin Wealth partners with clients to help them oversee their enterprise risk, building better portfolios, enhancing their value proposition and institutionalizing their investment process.

Position Description:

The Aladdin Wealth business is effectively a start up with the broad reach of BlackRock and Aladdin. We are seeking for a data scientist who will focus on conducting research on data-driven solutions for business problems and insights. This role will participage all aspects of data science projects from problem formulation to productionize solutions in a scalable way.

The successful candidate will take a responsibility to improve the existing funds modeling framework and actively bring new innovative ideas to the team with machine learning techniques while understanding the needs of our clients as well as striving to explore and learn from the changes in landscape of wealth management industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative solutions with large data sets for solving business challenges and developing business insights

  • Implement and optimize the existing modeling process to become more scalable and efficient

  • Perform fund exposure analysis, risk and performance analysis to bring insights to clients through visualization, stories, and interpretable summaries

  • Identify and automate manual work with machine learning

  • Identify and implement alternative public data sources to improve the accuracy of the funds model

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in quantitative or technical discipline

  • Strong problem solving / analytical skills are required

  • Strong proficiency in statistical programming languages such as Python and R

  • Familiarity with Tensorflow/Keras and scikit-learn libraries is required

  • Experience in text mining and analytics is required

  • Experience with unstructured data wrangling, cleaning, and sampling is a plus

  • Experience with Spark, Hadoop, Parallelization and Distributed Computing is a plus.

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to both collaborate and work independently

  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal

  • Knowledge in Wealth Management Industry is a strong plus
