AJC is looking for a results driven North American Procurement professional interested in advancing their sales career with an international company and top exporter of frozen protein products in the U.S. The North American Pork Buyer will be responsible for generating profitable purchases for assigned destination countries according to established plan metrics. This is accomplished by maintaining and growing current supplier account base while generating new supplier business. The ideal candidate must be a (preferabbly experienced) commercially driven person who is positive, energetic, a quick learner who is motivated by challenge and excited by the opportunity to work in an international environment.
Handles Designated Supply Base (as assigned)
Maintains daily contact with designated suppliers and collects offers on product available.
Direct and lead supplier negotiations.
Targets our share of purchases and monitors results.
Maintains records of producer/profile.
Monitors competitors' activities with these suppliers.
Makes personal plant visits.
Develops personal relationships with various industry representatives.
Handles Designated Destination Region
Understands destination regions business and usage of products we sell; knows our share and competitors.
Maintains frequent contact with selling traders
Generates desired gross profit in total and per region
Maintains clears records of information vital to relationship.
Visits destination markets yearly (as necessary).
Maintains Supplier Contracts: Costs, Conditions, and Documents
Understand AJC costing system.
Maintains reference of applicable rates.
Familiar with all transportation possibilities origin to destination.
Positions products within established limits and liquidating practices.c
Responsible for fully specifying product and contract terms at time of purchase in writing to avoid disputes and claims.
Participates in negotiating claims.
Prudently negotiates long-term contracts limiting exposure.
Assists in contract discrepancies and payments to suppliers

To be considered candidates must:
Have a bachelor's degree. Recent graduates encouraged to apply.
Speak, read, and write English fluently. Fluency in a second language is a plus.
Have competent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
2-3 years of procurement experience a plus.
