Position Summary:

The Instructional Designer / Instructional Trainer is a full-time, 12 month, at-will/exempt position that reports to the Senior Instructional Designer. The position provides online course development assistance to faculty, both on and off campus teaching online courses using the institutions supported Learning Management System and course development software. This position will also provide face to face and online trainings to campus and online faculty in the use Blackboard and other institutionally supported technologies.

Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)

  • Provide direct course development assistance and support to instructors developing online courses in accordance with ASU's quality assurance standards

  • Provide ongoing and systematic support to instructors to help assure course compliance

  • Assist in developing multimedia for instructional online classroom needs for the campus using institutionally supported technologies and software.

  • Provide technology troubleshooting assistance to both students and instructors as needed

  • Assists with online course quality assurance, which may include Quality Assurance Reviews and Mid-Semester Evaluations

  • Provide face-to-face and online training to full-time and adjunct faculty in the use of Adams State University's supported distance learning and campus technologies.

  • Provide training in the concepts of good instructional design methodology for both online and face-to-face courses.

  • Develop training aids for the use of all supported campus distance learning and campus technologies.

  • Manage project and course development training activities.

  • Provide group and individual training to all faculty in the use of supported institution technologies.

  • Assist faculty in the use of institutionally supported assessment collection technology.

  • Facilitate assessment collection with academic departments.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Demonstrate experience with the use of instructional design principals and pedagogical strategies to enhance learning.

  • Ability to use a Learning Management System

  • Must possess or have the ability to successfully complete the Applying the QM rubric course through Quality Matters.

  • Ability to use technology in the development of training aids.

  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and plan a conference/training program.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Possess good problem solving, collaboration, and planning skills and be willing to work in team environments.

  • Ability to work with staff with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on the use of technology in a variety of learning environments.

  • Successful applicants must have strong organizational skills and be able to manage time independently.

  • Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Blackboard Ultra Course View preferred.

  • Experience with Class Collaborate preferred.

  • Experience with Blackboard Learn course management system preferred.

  • Experience with the ability to develop video lectures for online course development preferred.

  • Preferred experience in assisting faculty to develop online courses within the Blackboard Lean Learning Management System.

  • Demonstrate the understanding of copyright law and the Teach Act.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $51,132-$58,168.
