Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Assembly, Integration, & Test (AI&T) Technician who is fueled by problem-solving, continuous curiosity, and a drive to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.

This position has multiple job openings (and may be filled at multiple levels).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate machines or use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place in clean room environment.

  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, depth gauges and optical measuring instruments.

  • Stage, assemble, install, and inspect spacecraft mechanical, electrical, and fluid components by interpreting and utilizing engineering drawings, provided specifications, written assembly instructions, and test procedures.

  • Support engineering with diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical spacecraft assemblies from component level to full spacecraft build.

  • Support payload handling and integration operations that include handling of spacecraft assemblies.

  • Operate material/hardware handling equipment including - but not limited to - forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, trailer tugs, and other ground support equipment as required.

  • Collaborate with Engineers and/or teams of diverse skills and backgrounds to develop and document activities such as assembly work instructions.

  • Setup new production work areas, assemble mockups, support engineering and process design efforts.

  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, clean room, and safety guidelines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience.

High school diploma or equivalent

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field preferred.

  • 1-20+ years of professional experience working in the aviation or aerospace industry in a technical, hands-on capacity working with test, flight and safety critical hardware assemblies that require high workmanship standards and attention to detail.

  • Experience in at least one of the following:

  • General Aerospace/Spacecraft/Aircraft/Launch Vehicle/Ship manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication (ideally in a clean room environment)

  • Piping and tubing routing and installation

  • Test facilities/rig fabrication, operation, and maintenance

  • Instrumentation and electrical harness routing, installation, and checkout

  • Electrical, Mechanical, and Fluids Ground Support Equipment (GSE) operation

  • Pressure systems

  • Electrical and avionics systems

  • Welding (orbital preferred)

  • Must be proficient in the use of various calibrated tools and equipment used for space hardware assembly and installation (torque wrenches, calipers, multimeters, etc.).

  • Basic computer skills with knowledge in Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (~ 80% of the time).

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. unassisted (~ 20%of the time).

  • May require working at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) for minimal periods of time.

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

  • Work may involve activities in confined spaces, suboptimal orientations, proximity to sensitive equipment, etc.

  • Work may involve consistent use of clean room apparel and related protocols that ensure maintenance of required cleanliness level(s) in proximity to space flight hardware.

  • May be required to use or work near large machinery for extended periods.

  • Must be able to visually identify and differentiate colors when building and inspecting wire harnesses.
