AI&T Project Engineer
KBR is seeking a PROJECT ENGINEER to support our SPACE SUIT DESIGN TEAM for KBR's Science and Space division.
The PROJECT ENGINEER will primarily be responsible for assisting with problem-solving and leading technical activities to ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and within specification. The Project Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines of assigned projects and will establish criteria for the proper implementation of all the elements of a project.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for technical/operational aspects of NASA and commercial space suit testing assembly, integration, and sustainability. Defines, generates, and reviews requirements documentation. Performs technical assessments to refine project requirements. Monitors the project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained while maintaining safety at the highest level. Provides coordination between resource managers/supervisors, engineering, manufacturing, and quality control and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received and approved.
Plan, schedule, prepare, and support the coordination of space suit testing, assembly, and integration for safety, sustainability, functionality and reliability
Use requirements and verification documents to help develop assembly plans and test configurations and procedures to support both NASA and commercial customers
Interpret test requirements from stakeholders to help develop design solutions, test planning and development, scheduling & coordination with internal & external support customers, support risk assessment & mitigation, test buildup design & approval, directing test execution, and summary reporting.
Collaborate and coordinate with engineering and quality control for non-conformance disposition and resolution
Provide support to system safety for help support the development of Hazard Analyses
Support customer meetings and reviews including Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews.
Support and provide inputs for schedule integration and logistics
Help define test workflows, documentation, processes, and procedures.
Adhere to appropriate safety, quality, and environmental practice, as well as business ethics practices.
Overcome off-nominal conditions and adverse situations while maintaining tests and projects on schedule and within scope.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Years of Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of experience
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (MS Office tools)
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a high performing team environment
Ability to develop and clearly communicate information in technical forums and to senior leadership
Able to troubleshoot hardware and perform root cause analysis
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Prior work and experience at NASA in the development of xEMU hardware and systems
Prior experience processing, developing, integrating certifying, and sustaining EVA hardware at a NASA testing facility
Experience with design and modeling software including but not limited to SolidWorks or Creo
Experience with configuration and data management processes and submitting Change Request
Prior knowledge of NASA/JSC System Safety and Health and Safety Processes
Training or certification in Project Management including Agile methodologies
