  • Experience may substitute for education up to four years

POSITION OVERVIEW

Performs a variety of moderately complex engineering and technical tasks in support of the Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition Baggage Handling System (SCADA-BHS). Supports 24/7 real-time BHS control system integrity and ensure the highest operational reliability and system availability. Leads the daily maintenance of the system to accomplish the best performance communicates with dispatch, engineers and field crews performs troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution as required. Coordinates and analyzes the real-time control system user's request; develops and implements enhancements or modifications requested in a timely manner.

Communicates system activity status to customers and management.

Perform application programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documentation and system modifications. Configures and programs process control applications (Human Machine Interfaces), Programmable Logic Controllers, and remove Terminal Unit functions. Updates, maintains, and documents security controls. Enforces security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring data security profiles. Respond to after hour requests for remote support of the BHS. Lead, train, and provide guidance and work oversight of others.

ASSESSMENT

A skills assessment will be required for this position.

DRIVING REQUIREMENT

This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA.

This position requires a State of Texas Class "C" Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City's Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

Pay Range

$28.85 - $36.06

  • Experience with PLC ladder logic programming.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1.Supports 24/7 real-time control system integrity and ensure the highest operational reliability and system availability. This requires after hours on-call support to meet the response requirements for restoring the mission critical system.

2.Installs, enhances, troubleshoots, calibrates and repairs systems and/or equipment that is part of the Austin Airport's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).

3.Conducts field inspections of baggage handling system

4.Learns application programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documentation and system modifications

5.Configures and programs process control applications (Human Machine Interfaces), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions

6.Performs loop checks, point-to-point checks, control loop analysis and hardware/software diagnostics of SCADA and ESS systems and equipment.

7.Maintains stock and parts inventories and documentation for all systems

  • Ability to work with Unix (TRU64 Unix preferred).

  • Knowledge of PLC ladder login programming.

  • Knowledge of Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Allen Bradley integrated architecture.

  • Ability to understand database design and application development.

  • Ability to perform systems testing of specification requirements.

  • Ability to understand and use standard application development design, report and project management tools.

  • Ability to effectively participate in multiple projects or project capacities.

  • Ability to perform objective analyses and re-engineering of business processes to maximize quality service and cost-effectiveness.
