Airport Operations Agent
The Colorado Springs Airport serves as the first impression for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, giving them a breathtaking view of Pikes Peak and a taste of Colorado hospitality. In addition, the Airport is a major catalyst in the growth and development of the Colorado Springs region and plays a significant role in bringing new business, conventions, and tourism to the area.
In this position, you will deliver a high level of customer service to all Colorado Springs Airport (Airport) customers, including airlines, concessionaires, and the public. You will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Airport on a 24-hour basis to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations pertaining to airport operations.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Coordinate and perform airfield operations activities, including the inspection of airport facilities, runways, taxiways, ramps, perimeter barriers, and buildings; record discrepancies and arrange for corrective actions
Issues Notice to Air Missions (NOTAMS) when hazards exist; initiate closure of all or parts of the airport, if necessary
Implement and coordinate snow removal activities in accordance with the Airport Snow and Ice Control Plan
Respond to all aircraft emergencies, incidents, and accidents; prepare and distribute accident and incident reports; identify and report property damage; serve as the Airport liaison to the incident commander until relieved, and assist the incident commander by coordinating responding services
Perform security-related inspections as required by the TSA (Transportation Security Administration)
Oversee and coordinate the safe and efficient flow of passengers throughout the terminal building and landside facilities
Monitor and inspect ground transportation services within the Airport
Make short-term maintenance and safety recommendations to senior staff and management
Maintain written log of significant events and actions during the shift; conduct surveys, prepare reports, maintain records, and perform other duties as assigned in support of the operations department
Provide a high level of customer service to all internal and external customers
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations 14 CFR part 139 and Airport Advisory Circulars
Knowledge of Airport Security Regulations 49 CFR part 1542 and Federal Aviation Regulations 14 CFR part 139
Proficiency using standard office technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and database applications
Ability to perform effectively and professionally in stressful situations
Ability to explain pertinent City policies and procedures
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Successful candidates will have
A high school diploma or GED
One year of full-time airport operations or administration, airfield maintenance, airline or FBO ramp operations and/or directly related military experience
Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.
Ideal candidates will also have
Bachelor's degree in aviation management or a related field
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration and TSA standards for airport operations

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
You may be required to work all shifts on a rotating basis.
This position requires you to respond to emergency after-hours callouts and be available for snow removal operations.
The background check process for this position includes being fingerprinted. Fingerprints will be used to check the FBI's criminal history records.
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and walking or standing to a significant degree.
