About the Position

Assists in managing, coordinating, directing and providing second level supervision over a large custodial staff and activities ensuring the cleanliness and safety of airport facilities on a 24hour, 7day a week basis. This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies.

Note: This classification is designated exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and is therefore, not eligible for overtime.

Equivalent to completion of two years of college level coursework in Business or Public Administration, or a field closely related to the work, and three years of full-time administrative or supervisory experience in areas such as custodial or housekeeping services. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Applicants not meeting these requirements will not be considered for employment.

License and Certification: Must possess valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of hire.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration.

Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.

Physical Demands

Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment and to drive a motor vehicle in order to visit various County work sites for the purpose of making inspections; vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

Examples of Duties

Plans, organizes, administers, reviews and evaluates the work of skilled, semi-skilled and support staff through subordinate supervisors in multiple occupational areas. Recommends selection of staff; trains staff and provides for their professional development; administers discipline as required.

Recommends goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the section; assists in preparing the section's budget. Contributes to the overall quality of the section's service provision by coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures. Oversees custodial services for the Department of Aviation; conducts regular and routine inspections.

Responds to and resolves County staff inquiries and complaints. Conducts analytical studies; develops and reviews reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; directs the maintenance of accurate records and files. Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a County or personal motor vehicle to conduct work site inspections.
