The Opportunity

RS&H is currently seeking an Airfield Engineer/Project Manager to join the Aviation Practice in Chicago, IL!

You will have the opportunity to lead, develop and deliver projects of varying sizes and complexity, initiate and maintain client contact and assist the team in winning the work.

Activities include the geometric design of runways, taxiways, and aprons; bituminous and concrete pavement design; stormwater and utility infrastructure design; coordination with airports, airlines, FAA and other tenants; and construction administration/management. This is a unique opportunity to join a team that will embrace your ideas to even better serve our great family of airport clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering or other professionally recognized equivalent disciplines from an accredited ABET university

  • 8+ years of experience with 2+ years in Civil design of airport-related facilities at medium and/or large hub airports

  • Illinois PE registration or ability to obtain within 6 months of starting

  • Previous project management and team leader experience is preferred

  • Motivated with Client Management capabilities

  • Ability to travel across the state to existing/potential Airport Clients

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required for use in completing an assignment

VIEW JOBS 2/5/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-05T00:00 The Airfield Project Manager is responsible for the overall airfield design team for our airport infrastructure projects. This includes design for the runways, taxiways, airfield utility infrastructure design, storm water and drainage, grading, aircraft parking layout plans, roads & parking lots, and other civil infrastructure involved with our airport development project(s). Responsibilities: * Provide engineering and management services to Airport Authorities and Airlines. Primarily focus on designing airport terminal fixed ground-support systems and aircraft parking planning, specifically central 400Hz ground power units (GPU) and pre-conditioned air (PCA) plant upgrades, point-of-use 400Hz GPU and PCA upgrades, Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) replacements, and fuel system modifications. * Prepare design work in-house, and/or review designs, plans, permits, specifications and other contract documents prepared by consulting architects and engineers for feasibility and adherence to ACAA standards; * Make periodic inspections of project sites to review work in progress for conformance with plans, drawings, and specifications; * Monitor and evaluate ongoing facilities, systems and procedures to assure efficiency and make recommendations when revisions are deemed necessary; * Review, inspect and recommend improvements for civil related structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, airfield pavement, drainage structures, and utilities; * Review/approve applications from tenants for civil modifications or additions; * Prepare a variety of reports, forms, executive summaries, and project details for assigned or special projects; * Work closely with overall project leadership and construction management to evaluate construction projects status and progress. * Coordinate projects with outside agencies and communities, tenants and other Authority departments; * Provide civil technical support for all relevant stakeholders; * Performs other related tasks as assigned or required. Qualifications: * 8+ years of experience in Civil design of airport-related facilities. * Extensive knowledge of civil engineering methods, practices, and procedures; * Considerable ability to evaluate engineering plans, designs and specifications; * Extensive organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to meet and consult with professional engineers and contractors in a multi-layered and matrix project environment regarding complex engineering matters; * Ability to write professional and technical engineering reports; * Ability to apply engineering theory and practice to practical field and office engineering problems; * Effective team builder will foster teamwork, can set priorities, and define expectations; * Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering. * Engineer in Training (EIT) or registration as a professional engineer (PE) preferred.
