AECOM is seeking an
Aircraft Mechanic 1 (Composites) for a position in Ft. Campbell, KY.
Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components
Inspecting, diagnosing and repairing aircraft systems and subsystems including engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions and mechanical flight controls
Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives
Perform maintenance tasks such as depopulating, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reassembly of aircraft components such as, drivetrain, fuel systems, aircraft flight controls and power plant rigging
Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems
Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services
Perform scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections
Perform maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required
Complete tool box inventory sheets and be shadowed prior to arrival at site
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
Training Will conduct classroom and hands on training on all topics/subjects related to the program. Professional speaking or prior instructor experience is desired.
Must have a thorough knowledge of repair techniques used on aircraft composite structures and structural components.
Must have thorough knowledge materials used in the construction of aircraft composite structures and structural components including identification and correct application of woven fabrics, core materials, and adhesive resins.
Must have a thorough knowledge of the correct application and use of common hand tools, specialized shop equipment, and precision measuring equipment utilized in fabrication and repair of aircraft advanced composite structural components. Must be able to accurately measure tolerances within 1/10,000 (0.0001) Inch using a variety of instruments.
Must meet requirements for enrollment in respiratory protection and confined space entry program and be able to perform work for extended periods in confined spaces and while wearing respirator.
Must be able to work with hazardous particulates, solvents, adhesives, and sealants using correct personal protective equipment.
Must have working knowledge of the identification and correct handling of Aviation Critical Safety Items (CSI's) and their Critical Characteristics (CC's).
Must be a self-starter, able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, be able to work in extreme heat and cold.
Must have basic knowledge of aircraft corrosion control methods.
Must be able to prioritize workloads.
Must have safety shoes, rain gear, cold wear gear, and safety glasses.
Must provide personal tools per minimum tool listing and have those tools shadowed and ready for initial inspection on the first day of employment.
Ability to obtain and maintain an access to Ft. Campbell, KY via security background investigation is a condition of employment.
Documented completion of formal training in the repair of aircraft composite materials.
Advanced understanding of tools and use.
Ability to research, read, and interpret blue prints, drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
Functional ability to use computer to access information and complete forms.
Must be able to understand, speak, read and write English.
Basic knowledge of both ULLS-AE and GCSS-A logistics information systems.
